The bar needs to be higher. We should have a basic standard for POTUS when it comes to how he expresses himself.

Are we being too dramatic? No. This kind of example from the top will have a greater influence than one news cycle.

He is saying that US immigration policy should be for the benefit of the US just how immigration policy in most of the modern industrialized world is merit based, and you have a problem with that why? I think this is a good portrait of how each side views America. The democrats view America as a force to benefit the world first. So we have to take in everyone from oppressed countries to give them a better life here even if that is not in the interests of americans.

Republicans view America as a force to benefit America first the world second. So we only take in the immigrants that are most likely to benefit us with no moral obligation to the rest.

If you started counting the # of immigrants from the countries Trump was talking about who have "benefitted" America, you'd lose track in a few minutes.

Who in the world are you & Trump to judge who can "benefit" us, and who can't? Immigrants start businesses at twice the rate of native borns. It isn't all about having riches & degrees when you get here.
