How is that Trump tax cut working out for you middle class?!!

The Trump tax cut was a gift to wealthy and corporations. However Trump said it was a middle class and poor people tax cut. So if he says it, it must be so. Trump is like some posters here. If he says it often enough and crudely enough, the Repubs will buy in. Of course tariffs result in higher prices. I wonder who would be paying higher prices? So American consumers will pay for or Trumps tariff wars. Wonder how far a buck and a half a week will go?

Smoke & mirrors. They crafted something in such a way that they could say to everyone, "Hey, you got a bigger paycheck...why are you complaining?"

It's mathematically challenged to not understand what this will do to the ever-expanding gap between rich & poor.

Because reform is about growing the economy which is why it was business focused. We can eliminate federal taxes for those who make under $50K but ultimately that still won't close the gap.

It's not just that bracket. This plan massively benefits those at the very top.

It's a difference in philosophy. I'm all for a more friendly business climate, but this plan is classic trickle-down, imo. It's wonderful that some companies were very public about how they planned to pass this on to employees and investment in their companies, but we've seen from experience that most of that money will just end up abroad and passing along to heirs.

What do you see as more business friendly vis a vis the tax code in today's global environment?
 
The wealth gap is worse than during the Gilded age and Trump rule ,is making it worse yet. He is a tool for the plutocrats.

How do you think tariffs (and/or a possible trade war) are going to affect the economy in general, and citizens' personal budgets in particular?

Now here is an honest man. This is generally true for most workers except maybe those under union contracts, like teachers or state workers, for example.

But isn't this the part where you are supposed to complain loudly how you don't like how high your taxes are and that they are going to lazy moochers who refuse to get jobs? lol

I have always been honest about this and taxes. I am a progressive who will tell democrats to get off their high horse about the tax cuts. With half the people not paying taxes, they are NEVER going to benefit from a cut in tax rates. I personally wouldn't have cut the rates for other reasons, but as for who benefits from the cuts, it is like a bald man complaining because he didn't get a discounted haircut. Now while I am progressive, I am also mindful this debt is getting a little closer to the brink than I would like, so I would rather see them have allocated some of the money to actual debt reduction. Actually payoff some of these bonds as they become payable and all that. Just because I am on the left doesn't mean I ignore economic realities.

Tariffs are a tax on consumers. I don't support tax increases and I don't support tariffs. Tariffs, and trade wars, harm businesses and aren't done for the benefit of the elite.

So you don't think workers have noticed the increase in their checks?

that said, we agree on the tariff wars... consumers will pay the price for that if it continues.

It massively benefits everyone. It means more people will avoid having to pay federal income taxes. It means those in the third quartile will still pay less than they would have. It means more small business owners will survive.

Yes, the wage gap is still there. Taxation doesn't change the pay scale. But you are foolish if you think people aren't going to appreciate the bigger paychecks.
