Elites are thriving under Trump

They already tax the top heavily "where the money is", but how much is enough? Half of the money? Three quarters? What percentage is enough to quench the thirst to confiscate the wealth of others? Do any of you "tax the rich more" proponents ever look at the other side of the ledger where all of the spending resides?

I see you're no more in touch with reality than you were back on GB.

The mystic oracle speaks. Yet another indication of your TDS.

We are $22 trillion in debt as a country. A "modest" tax increase won't touch the debt
All we need is enough to balance the budget, with enough left over to cover the interest on the debt and a little more to start reducing it. Getting rid of it will take a long time.

True. At some point, we're going to have to go to a guaranteed income, where everyone basically collects Social Security, because there won't be any jobs.

A guaranteed basic income...a generous one...is almost a certainty.

IF NOT...a guaranteed uprising that would dwarf what happened in late 18th century France and early 20th century Russia...is in store.

I'd much rather we take the peaceful route. But...

Executives get a lot of stock as part of their pay packages. Companies spend their profits buying up the stock that is out, instead of paying better wage to workers. Then more and more stock is spread among the execs. Another way company profits are put in the hands of the top .
And it bumps the share price along the way, making CEO pay even higher

Smoke & mirrors. They crafted something in such a way that they could say to everyone, "Hey, you got a bigger paycheck...why are you complaining?"

It's mathematically challenged to not understand what this will do to the ever-expanding gap between rich & poor.

Says the guy who purports to support low taxes

Keep up the charade

It's not just that bracket. This plan massively benefits those at the very top.

It's a difference in philosophy. I'm all for a more friendly business climate, but this plan is classic trickle-down, imo. It's wonderful that some companies were very public about how they planned to pass this on to employees and investment in their companies, but we've seen from experience that most of that money will just end up abroad and passing along to heirs.

Don’t forget under their mattresses. That is a favorite spot you forgot to mention. Because we know the “rich” never spend their money do they precious ?

Unfortunately, Thing...one thing that has to be factored in...is...

...NO MATTER WHAT...THERE WILL NEVER BE MORE JOBS...AND HIGHER WAGES.

It just cannot happen using the system now in place.

Every corporation is REQUIRED to make as much money as possible...and that invariably means cutting labor costs. Fewer people being paid...and paying the ones being paid as little as possible.

The entire system has to crash...and be replaced.

I used to think it could be tweaked into some sort of system that would work. But as it stands now...not even tweaking will accomplish anything.

Replaced with what?
Something akin to Venezuela?

Why aren’t you liberals flocking there to your liberal paradise? Free healthcare and everyone can read.

Really?

So what would they have to give up?

Are you saying that we are not intelligent enough to work it out so that everyone has healthcare...without short changing the rich?

Yes I am saying you aren’t intelligent enough to work it out. That is the first part

The second part is the most important. How do you make things fair for everyone without inherently making it unfair for someone else? It is impossible.

Oh I know you think you sound compassionate calling for everyone to have “sufficient” housing , food and healthcare. It sounds great and wonderful and makes you feel all gooey and caring on the inside. The reality is it is child like thinking. First and foremost one has to define “sufficient”. Is sufficient having 2000 calories a day? 600 sq ft of living space? Vaccinations? And who gets to decide what is “sufficient” for EVERYONE? Do we all get to vote on it as ballot initiative?

Lastly, why does someone have to pay for you to satisfy your own conscience? If you cared so much about someone having all of these things, why don’t you adopt a family and see that they get them? Use your own money. Stop outsourcing your compassion to the federal government

There ARE limits to technology. BUT...for jobs that machines can be devised to do...the machines will mostly do the jobs more efficiently and at less cost than humans.

Under the right circumstances...they would have to pay me a shitload of money to wipe an old man's ass (I'm an old man, though, and I wipe my own) or shave it for surgery.

Under the right circumstances..."they" would have to pay ANYONE a shitload of money to do those kinds of jobs.

That is as it should be these days. The days of the rich getting grunt work done for coolie wages...SHOULD END.

Let’s reverse that question. How much are you willing to pay someone to shave your ass for surgery? Put a dollar amount to it.

He accomplished that by slashing taxes on corporations and the wealthy. You can see what he will do to the deficits. Repubs jack up the debt, but never like Trumpy is doing it.

George W. took a mighty powerful swing for the fences in this regard, so I would say Trump will probably be #2

No, there aren't. There are limits to current technology. Those limits are extended daily and will eventually disappear completely.

When you have a robot that can raise tomatoes on the surface of the sun, let me know. Until then, there are limits to technology.

Yes I am saying you aren’t intelligent enough to work it out. That is the first part

Perhaps I am not. But if you are saying that "capitalists" are not intelligent enough to work it out...perhaps we should get rid of capitalists.

The second part is the most important. How do you make things fair for everyone without inherently making it unfair for someone else? It is impossible.

If a thing is "fair for everyone"...by definition...IT IS FAIR FOR EVERYONE.

I am not looking for EQUAL for everyone.

Oh I know you think you sound compassionate calling for everyone to have “sufficient” housing , food and healthcare. It sounds great and wonderful and makes you feel all gooey and caring on the inside. The reality is it is child like thinking. First and foremost one has to define “sufficient”. I will be glad to discuss this with you...IF YOU LOSE ALL THAT CONDESCENDING BULLSHIT.

Lastly, why does someone have to pay for you to satisfy your own conscience? If you cared so much about someone having all of these things, why don’t you adopt a family and see that they get them? Use your own money. Stop outsourcing your compassion to the federal government

Better than the kind of garbage that American conservatives use as a mantra: I've got mine...screw you.

But...the big equalizer is knowing that at some point, the suckers of the American right will find that they have been patsies all along. They have been steadying the hands of people intent on cutting their throats.

American conservatism is a laughable, naive rabble.
