Liberals keep saying that what Teddy did that night doesn’t matter because of all the great “liberal” things he did while in the Senate. Of course that is debatable on its face, but I will park that for now.

That argument misses the salient point that but for being a Kennedy his political career should have ended that night along with Mary Jo’s life. He never should have had the opportunity to pass another piece of legislation.
