Comey withheld who funded dossier.

WRONG .. again.

The Free Beacon said all the work provided to it by Fusion GPS was from public sources, and "none of the work product that the Free Beacon received appears in the Steele dossier."

Fusion GPS was later hired by an attorney representing the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign, it was revealed this week. Fusion GPS formally hired former British intelligence officer Christopher Steele after it was hired by the law firm working with the DNC and Clinton campaign, a source familiar with the matter told NBC News.

"A spokesperson for the DNC said this week that the organization’s new chairman and leadership was not involved in the Fusion GPS matter, and did not know the law firm, Perkins Coie, was working with the organization"

"Clinton's former national campaign press secretary, Brian Fallon, said he did not know about Steele’s hiring before the election. “If I had, I would have volunteered to go to Europe and try to help him,” Fallon said Tuesday on Twitter."

Interesting how conservatives always have to work a conspiracy into everything they can to defend the Don. Seen the same from the other side with Cambridge Analytica, but conspiracies usually don't sell on the left, they don't have that need for an existential threat

You don't think it might be a bit suspicious why Nunes had to recognize what he did in a footnote rather than including it in the body of his interpretation?

And I thought the whole interest began with information obtained from an Australian diplomat regarding Russia and its' interests in the US election

Seems pretty stupid that he felt it wasn't necessary to tell him his opponents funded it. Big difference between 'foreign governments put this together' and 'those assclowns you just beat put together this report'.

I wonder... would anyone have given a shit about it had Comey just been up front on who funded it?

'Oh... your opponent said some mean unsubstantiated things just thought you should know'. Nothingburger

It was originally funded by a GOP guy.. hedge fund billionaire named Paul Simpson.

How does Comey not specifically telling the Don where the information came from have any significance? He was informing him it was out there to make him aware, why does knowing who paid for it make a difference, still out there?

... in September or October of 2015—Simpson was vague about the exact date—a client hired Fusion GPS to investigate Donald Trump. (The Washington Free Beacon, a conservative Web site that has received funding from the hedge-fund billionaire Paul Singer, has acknowledged hiring Fusion GPS to investigate candidates during the Republican Presidential primaries.) Simpson said the mandate was to carry out an “open-ended” examination of Trump’s business record, including his bankruptcies, and, he added, “it evolved somewhat quickly into issues of his relationship to organized-crime figures.”

One of the early subjects of the inquiry, Simpson said, was Felix Sater, a longtime business associate of Trump’s who reportedly was linked to the Russian mafia, and who played a role in the development of the Trump SoHo building. Another subject of interest was the financing of Trump’s various real-estate projects. “We saw indications that some of the money came from Kazakhstan, among other places, and that some of it you just couldn’t account for,” Simpson said. But, for the first six months of the work, he added, the probe wasn’t focussed only on Russia.

Things changed in the spring of 2016, after Fusion GPS got a new client, which we now know to have been the Clinton campaign and the D.N.C. (This fact emerged in October, well after Simpson’s testimony, when lawyers from the Judiciary Committee demanded Fusion GPS’s bank records.) In “May or June of 2016,” Simpson recalled, he engaged Christopher Steele, an old associate of his, who was the former head of the Russia desk at the British foreign-intelligence agency, MI6. He and Steele, who was by then running his own intelligence consultancy in the U.K., shared an interest in the Russian kleptocracy and in organized-crime issues, Simpson said.

Are you of the opinion that Simpson did not pass on the information gathered on possible criminal activity by Trump when republicans were paying for to investigation on to his friend, Christopher Steele?

Given the information uncovered when republicans were paying for it, why do you think Simpson passed it on to someone expert in such activity?

Here's the good news .. you get to believe whatever you want .. changes nothing.

Simpson engaged FGPS to investigate the GOP candidates. That ended.
Then FGPS got involved with Clinton, DNC, dossier & Steele.
That's it.

... passing on the information gathered on possible Russian criminal connections to the new employer, the DNC.

Pretty simple.

And, how much did Clinton pay for it?

What difference would it make?

For giggles, let's say 100 billion dollars. What difference does that make?

Shouldn't you be challenging the information, not how much it cost?

How much were republicans paying for it? What difference does it make?

WHAT?? what are you rambling on about? Tump's Russian mafia connections..?
get out of here with that trash.

Steele colluded with the Russians ( who fed him dezinformatsiya ) and Clinton paid for it
why are you chasing this wild rabbit?

It was originally funded by a GOP guy.. hedge fund billionaire named Paul Simpson.

No, it was not. Just because he used Fusion earlier, doesn't mean the Steele dossier was funded by him. Steele was brought in AFTER the DNC started opposition research.

You think they would have appointed a special prosecution if they had known the whole thing was funded by Democrats?

he should have, if you were accused of the Pee Tapes, wouldn't you want to know how credible the report was?
It was a political hit job where the DNC/Clinton colluded with Russians..

but the Big Problem for Comey/Rosenweasel, etc. is they signed the FISA application -
knowing it wasn't "verified and documented" (per FBI protocol),and only foot noted the doc was "political"
