Jacksonville Mass Shooting

With all the static from the reality show in the White House, it's hard to follow the 'get out the vote' movement by the kids. This is going to be an interesting November.

yes.....California may get lots of votes for lib'ruls......New York too......

Some people are just fucking crazy and would snap the same if it was video games or something else like getting fired from a job (origin of the phrase "going postal"). Video games are just so much more prolific now, it was only a matter of time before something like this happened, especially in America.

I remember hearing about someone get stabbed because he wouldn't stop throwing in Street Fighter II.

I've never bought into the blame the video game liberal psycho babble. And as you noted, gaming is ubiquitous in the under 40 generation.

I do think video games have an unparalleled "immersion effect" that can distort one's perception of reality ... just as books and movies have inspired violent acts by those that "immerse" themselves in those ... virtual realities.

I can think of two books that have inspired 1000x plus more violence than any video game or any movie ever made!

I don't think it desensitizes them to murder. In this case, the shooter could not bear to live with the real life consequences of his actions ... and, thankfully, shot himself.

The problem is that for some, they are so emotionally invested in virtual reality ... that it becomes more important than the real world for them. I've known young gamers that take real pride in their "accomplishments" in virtual realms ... as if it was a real world feat.
It is a real world feat in the same sense that winning MVP on the high school basketball team was when we were young.

The problem here, is that gamers have no emotional contact with real humans, and lose all sense of society. It's a step worse than home schooled kids with respect to learning about social interaction.

Right...but kids don't keep reading the same book for hours each day.

And there's no element of competition with the book. Some people aren't good losers.

Ho hum, another day in america. Thoughts, prayers, half staffing of flags, hand wringing.

Post where that's true you lying sack of doodoo.

Shouldn't the call be to disarm terrorist white people like you?

You think liberals are going to create an exception for Black Americans when they ban private citizen gun ownership :rofl2:

I disagree.

More blubber-head ignorance.

In other words, you just made-up some shit about 'socialists' and black Americans.

Typical racist assclownery.

This, yet another horror story, has far less to do with gaming or homeschooling than it does with another pissed off white guy and his guns.

The clock is already ticking for the next horror story about another pissed off white guy, his guns, and the penchant to just mass murder everyone in sight because he's pissed off.

well that's a load of horseshit. are you jealous because your public education was lacking in morals?
It's certainly possible for parents to assure social interactions as an important part of a home schooled child's daily routine. Those who don't end up with children who aren't properly prepared for society.

Now go back to your video games.

So like political discussion boards without the need for hand-eye coordination :awesome:

I've met one homeschooled kid whose mom let him spend all damn day playing videogames and being that overly supportive type that took him to all kinds of tournaments and tried to force friendships with the higher ranking players.

We all hated him. Part of it was jealousy (lol) part of it was that he was both socially inept and overly egotistical. His sister was hot though. I forgot where I was going with this.
