That would explain it.

BUT !!

That is not necessarily the Ockham's Razor explanation.

Kavenaugh knows that such investigation could delay the senate vote to beyond the mid-term elections. And while I consider it unlikely the Dems will take back the senate, it's not mathematically impossible.

The lead appears to insinuate Kavenaugh guilt based upon resisting a delayed senate vote on Trump's nominee.

Kavenaugh may be guilty. I wouldn't presume that based on this one fact alone.
