The Obama economy was in malaise. Lackluster GDP; lower than any previous administration. Massive increases in Government spending with the highest deficits in US history and a massive accumulation of debt that exceeded ALL of his predecessors.

I think history proves that conservatives do not really mind boom and bust economies. Rich people make a lot of money in booms, and rich people are well positioned and can easily weather depressions, economic meltdowns, and epic Republican recessions. And I have never see much evidence that conservatives passionately empathize with the welfare of the middle class, the working class, or the disadvantaged. You do not even have to take my word for it: a representative sampling of conservative posts over this history of this board reveals the "I got mine and fuck everyone else!" economic model of conservatives.

It was the keynesian economic model that attempted to take the sharp edges off the boom and bust cycle. But conservatives have never subscribed to taking the hard edges, the cyclical extremes off of capitalism.

I have always said that the modern Republican party - at least since 1990 - is built largely on racial resentment.

This country never really dealt with our legacy of slavery and oppression. And vestiges of that history can be felt clear down to the present day.

Republicans like to say that blacks only vote for Democrats "to get free stuff"....which is actually their inner racist coming out in the light of day.

My theory, is that black americans, jewish-americans, Hispanic-americans, and Asian-americans who overwhelmingly vote Democratic actually have thought about it, and are making an informed choice.
