White Liberals Present Themselves as Less Competent in Interactions with Blacks

explain why this study is even relevant? wow Dems often speak in language appropriate to the audience?

you're a kook

Why is an Ivy League study done on how white people and politicians talk to black people? I don't know, why don't you think about that for a minute. And whats it say about you that you think the author of the study are kooks?

Ex-slaves? I don't think we have too many living ex-slaves in America.

we have the descendants of ex-slaves living in squalid ghettos you racist fuck

and speaking to audiences in terms they understand is not "the bigotry of low expectations"

.....you're just another bitter Libertarian in an extremely liberal city, tough shit

Do you think Volsrock really cares what this woman wrote? He's one of the most outspoken racist Klan members on this forum.

It's not about who posted the OP. I've already addressed him. I understand, no one wants to be called racist or racially insensitive. For many whites saying you are liberal and voting for Democrats is the shield you use to protect yourself. This study argues against that to a degree.

I'm racist now because you make assumptions of the IQ of black and Hispanic audiences that politicians speak to? Funny how when you feel on the defensive you're first response is to lash out and call others racist. Feeling a little self conscious?

not at all

I responded to a dopey Libertarian on a forum

any more questions before I leave you to your biggest addiction and live an actual life?

So nothing to say about the study huh?

#82, pally. Try to keep up.

I use different verbal levels depending on my audience as well. When I worked in three previous careers, where I was among my peers with a minimum of a BS degree and many with Masters and PhDs, the "verbal competence", as they put it in the article, was at a very high level. Now, in my post-retirement job, I rarely interact with people possessing that educational background. The "verbal competence" is at a much lower level and still I get asked "What does that word mean?"

You can denigrate verbally competent liberals all you want, but it sure beats the shit out of your boy, who speaks and writes at about a 6th grade level. The sad thing is that he isn't dumbing down his communication at all. That's the best he's capable of.

So you would assume audiences of minorities were beneath you and not on your level and thus worthy of being spoken down to. Says a lot doesn't it.

I'd like to know more about these speeches the researchers scanned. There's just not a lot of data here to make me want to agree or disagree with her.

Out of all my current co-workers, only one is in a minority group and she isn't black, moron. Liberals have a higher verbal competence than conservatives. This forum is proof of that. Conservatives communicate at the same level because they are not capable of upping their game. That's as good as it gets for them.

When I speak to the general public, I don't use the same level of speech as when I'm with my degreed circle of friends. For the same reason, on this forum, I dumb things down for the semi-literate RW dumbfucks. Sometimes, even that isn't enough. I make no assumptions about their race, either.

Comprende, pally boy? Or are words that difficult for you, too?

I don't why this would apply to minorities only.

It doesn't. When one has high verbal competence, as the article describes it, one has to tone it down for the general public, regardless of race.

When one has a 6th grade vocabulary, like Trump, there is no toning it down.

You're justifying white politicians speaking down to minority groups which is what the study says. And you are ok with it because you assume the white politician is better educated than their minority audience. It's not about you pally boy.

So the assumption is white audiences are better educated than minority audiences and thus should be spoken to differentlyb

I'm just telling it like it is, pally boy.

RW fucktards can't tone speech down because there is no down.

Heck there are plenty of topics, especially in the sciences, that would need to be dumbed way down for me to understand!

White privilege tells you that's a pretty good assumption, doesn't it? The most liberal state is also the best educated.

The assumption would be correct, pally boy, since blacks lag the general population by 10 points in the number who have BS degrees and greater.

http://blackdemographics.com/education-2/education/

However, that doesn't apply to white audiences of Trumpanzees. Then, you can assume the educational worst, can't you? That works well for Trump, though, since his normal level is that of a 12 year old. No need for him to talk down. He's already there.

"According to a Pew Research Center poll released this week, Democrats are now the party of college graduates, especially those with post-graduate work. Meanwhile, people with a high-school degree or less, by far the larger group, slightly lean toward Republicans."

https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2018/mar/22/democrats-more-educated-republicans-pew-research-c/

Read it and weep, pally boy.
