Probably an ID and phone number for which we can verify by calling it and having you answer.

My point is and has always been, that you shouldn't need to rely on character backstories to lend your argument credibility.

Conservatives love to embellish, and there's a long, long track record of that...Ashley Todd, Sam Wurzelbacher, Julie Boonstra...these are Conservatives who all lied about themselves in order to lend credibility to bullshit beliefs and arguments. We can't trust anything you say because Conservatives have no problem lying in order to score a cheap point or two. And you lie so much that the massive volume of lies can't all be addressed.

That's your strategy. That's why there's always vague and ambiguous inferences of "I own my own business" or "I'm a veteran" or "I'm married to (insert minority group here)."

Almost always, those claims are bullshit and embellished. The "retired teacher" trope isn't the first time I've seen someone falsely claim that, and it's a lie that is just big enough to lend you credibility, but just small enough as to not attract undue attention to yourself with a fantastical set of given circumstances. It hits that sweet spot of being just vague enough to be believable, if that is your bias.

It's really signalling to everyone that you're not secure in your argument, so you have to invent a backstory that gives you security and comfort. That is achieved more successfully by pretending to be a teacher than, say, being honest and admitting you're just a fraud and loser.
