Study debunks Democrat conspiracy theory about Russians stealing the election

And the study showed that these Facebook posts only reached people who already had strong opinions and had zero impact.

The entire news media was running fake stories like this against Trump for a year straight before the election. Russia can't put a dent in what our own lying DNC propaganda mills do to steal elections (not to mention illegal immigrant voting).

I agree that if the Russian posts only reached people who already had strong opinion they were unlikely to influence many people. That has long been true of all campaign ads.

However, if that is true, that also means the news media stories against Trump only reach those with strong opinion and also have no impact. American "propaganda" is no more effective than Russian propaganda.

What was a fake story about Trump?

If the right is subject to conspiracy theories they were already voting for Trump (because they are on the right) and their vote was not influenced by Russians.

McCain and Romney both lost their elections. It's not enough to just be on the Right, the candidates have to get the voters to care enough to go vote. And it's the same with the primaries. Trump was clearly the worst Republican running, but he had conspiracy nuts like Alex Jones helping him.

What does our meddling have to do with the issue of whether Russia influenced our election?
It doesn't. i mentioned it in context only.
The big picture is Russian meddling was child's play in terms of the YUGE campaign .
Yet Hillary and the Dems constantly play it up as reasons why they lost in 2016.
~~

There is a cost to all this Russiaphobia:
In terms of geo-politics it's caused Russia and China to become a military alliance with an integrated commnad structure, like Vostok 2018 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vostok_2018

Then there is the fact we are in a proxy war with Russia over the Ukraine
and the YUGE increases in NATO spending , and European Reassurance Initiative spending.
Basically we have started Cold War 2.0

Trump got 2 million more votes than Romney and 3 million more than McCain. I don't think Alex Jones or other conspiracy nuts was responsible for many votes. The unpopularity of Hillary and the lower turnout among loyal Democrats and increased third party voters were much more important than any conspiracy theories.

Trump and Sanders shared many of the same attractions--they were seen as outsiders who would shake up the system. Many voters listed Trump and Sanders as their first and second choices.

to the bolded. that was me. I was in for ANYTHING to shake up the ossified status quo

You have no clue whether Russia won the election for Trump. You think a person is going to change his mind because of crazy claims in Facebook memes?

How do you know it was a Russian post rather than a post by the Republican party, Trump campaign organization, PAC, conservative group, or just some individual that influenced somebody's vote? Anybody can post on Facebook.

The government brought prosecutions against Russian interference in 2018. Was that interference responsible for the Democratic gains?

They really did not have to change even 80,000 votes since Trump could have lost two more states and still won the electoral college.

Just the fact that they established a huge operation to influence voters to vote for Trump. It was an extremely close election with Trump lucking out narrowly in several statues. Trump accepted that they made him president and he has paid them back handsomely.
Russia was not that interested in the midterms. They want to determine our president again. There is plenty of evidence that they are building up to do it again.
I have lots of clues that Russia won for Trump. Your assumption is all that effort and expense was for nothing. Now that is hard to believe.

Considering both the treacherous Trump and the enlightened Sanders is not the act of a high information voter.

American public education has been vastly underfunded, and this is the result.

100%

Saying Russian trolls don't influence Americans is ignoring how prone the Right is to conspiracy theories. All they need to do is read some meme saying that Biden had a Ukrainian investigator fired to protect his son, and that's it, that's all they need to parrot the lie over and over.

Yep! If Putin did a press conference and said, "I Fucked Hillary in the election", Sean Hannity and Fuckwad Carlson would be on Faux News saying "Putin Butt Fucked Hillary at the Moscow Hilton inn!

Trump winning was definitely a combination of two things. Hillary's inability to excite Liberals and Centrists, and Trump's ability to excite Conservatives. However, a major part of the latter was that so many Trumpsters are conspiracy nuts. They believe in the Deep State and things like Pizza Gate and #quonan.
Aside from Sanders being an outsider for real, Sanders supporters generally don't fall for conspiracies. There is no left-wing version of Alex Jones or Donald Trump, because Leftists aren't prone to insane conspiracy theories.

oh please with the sanctimony.
My first priority is getting the ossified status quo ( Swamp) to become responsive to the people.

Both Trump and sanders offered that. Their policies are much different, and while I voted for sanders in the primary
( Florida is a closed primary state, and i'm a registered Dem) - when it came to the general
with Hillary against Trump it was a no brainer to vote for Trump

HILARY did what she needed to win the election

SHE WAS FUCKING ROBBED BY THE REPUBLICAN PARTY CHEATING

SO FUCKING CALLOUS THEY GOT PUTIN TO HELP THEM

oh please with the sanctimony.

Money doesn't necessarily sway votes (although Facebook posts don't cost anything). Tom Steyer is spending millions and even his staff is telling him the money is wasted.

dear fucking idiot

8 American intel groups said that Russia aided Stein, Sanders and Trump

but YOU chose to believe Putin over them and the bi partisan senate report that agrees

suck that Putin cock

and

fuck you very much

Trump got 7-9 million votes that went to Obama in 2012.
ya. I voted for Obama in 08 - no way would I vote for the Warmonger Mccain.

But then Hillary led the push to assassinate Qaddafi in Libya ( Libya NATO war of 2011)
so that was enough of Obama as well. I went 3rd party

Nothing is dumber than demanding change that you can't specifically define and explain.

If you know what you want, you don't see Sanders and the pigfucker Trump in the same light.

Pick a fucking side. Nobody with balls can straddle a fence.
