On Wednesday, the coronavirus death toll in the United States crossed the 100,000 mark, according to Johns Hopkins University data.

One. Hundred. Thousand.

It’s difficult to comprehend the enormity, the sheer horror, of that six-figure number. For context, that’s more people than “ever died in a single year from HIV/AIDS, drug overdoses, gun violence, or car crashes in the US.” That’s more Americans than “died over seven decades in the Korean, Vietnam, Persian Gulf, Afghanistan, and Iraq wars.” That’s more than 33 times the number of people who died on 9/11.

Next up, the World War I milestone. Within a matter of days, the number of deaths from the coronavirus will surpass the number of U.S. military fatalities (116,516) from the Great War. Those lives were lost over the course of more than 19 months — compared to less than four months now.

It did not have to be this way — because the vast majority of these deaths were preventable

Don’t believe me? In the United States, the first confirmed case of Covid-19 was on January 20. Three days later, Vietnam confirmed its first case of Covid-19. Today, the death toll in the United States has crossed 100,000. The number of deaths in Vietnam?

Never mind the fact that China turned down 2 attempts/requests from our medical/science teams to enter their country in January to try and get a handle on this earlier. :palm:

Trump lied and citizens died. Trump blew the handling of Corona by first doing nothing and then by slow-walking what was needed. It has been a demonstration of Trump's laziness and ignorance merging during a national crisis.

Go change your panties little guy. It is not up to our government to ensure you are smart enough to get through things without them.

I thought we were at war with the virus, and Trump was the "war general," and you are telling us that Trump was wrong and that we didn't need his leadership after all, which would be appropriate, seeing he ain't done a whole lot anyways

I have said none of that. Just another typical liberal delusion.

Well, that is not true, "it is not up to our government to ensure you are smart enough to get through things without them," certainly not the way Trump looked at it when he said he was the "war general," certainly he felt Americans needed his
leadership to "get through things,"

LOL. The predictions were that 2 million would die in the US by this time if nothing were done, if their blood is on his hands then the lives of 1.9 million that his policies saved are "owed to him"...

I'll tell you what... they aren't.

Trump didn't create the virus.

That would be giving the president credit for what governors did. Rather disingenuous. I recall him passing on responsibility and claiming it was up to governors to solve their own problems.

Polling reveals people place a lot more faith/credit in what governors have done than DT.

No. Actually. Pointing out that he began action in January before anybody thought it was needed tends to belie that remark.

Anyway, if you are handing him the blame for what Governors did (like that idiot in NY who actually sent sick folk back to their old folks homes instead of keeping them in hospital) then you are simply trying to present a double standard. Either these governors are "heroes" or like that idiot in NY they are the cause of most of the death in the US... or possibly everybody was doing their best and NY voted in a truly moronic idiot who killed a crapload of old people.
