PLEASE TRY TO DEFEND THIS ACTION BY POLICE ... PLEASE I DARE YOU

I can honestly sympathize with the statement of accidentally pushing an old man and his loosing his balance. Hell you can punch me an I could lose my balance, that can happen to anyone.

The Walking away tells me the Cop didn’t give a Fuck ... period.

People like that are the type who can kneel on someone’s neck and not give a Fuck.

People like that should NOT be Law Enforcement Officers

It was no accident. He deliberately pushed him. The degree of injury was not wanted, i believe . But he should have helped him out. The boss cop called him away. that is a pile of wrong that was going on.

This isn't per se a defense of the cop but some rational thought on the event.

1. We don't know if there was any verbal interaction between the man and the police. If there was, that's important. If the guy gave them any sort of lip it might have been deserved.

2. It appears the police were advancing in some numbers. The last thing you do is approach a police line moving forward like this guy did. The police are going to react and it won't be pretty for you-- whatever your intentions.

3. The police reaction should be expected. They are moving forward in a line to engage a protest or whatever. The line moves past anyone that is taken down. There's a second line and support staff behind that. The second line protects the first and will "cuff and stuff" the person taken down. Support staff (you see two kneel by the guy when they advance to him) will take care of his injuries. The front line doesn't stop for somebody taken down, they march past. That's normal and expected behavior and training, like it or not.

4. The age of the man knocked down is irrelevant. The police don't know or care what his age is. They care about his intentions and consider him a potential threat regardless because he's approaching a police line instead of retreating from it like they want him to. That's his mistake.

None of this potentially excuses the officer, but it also doesn't excuse the man. He could be as much or completely at fault here. His injury is an unfortunate side effect of taking on the police exactly when you, and he, shouldn't.

Entire BPD Emergency Response Team resigns in support of suspended officers

News 4 has learned the entire Buffalo Police Department Emergency Response Team has resigned from the team.

That’s a total of 57 officers.

We’re told this is a show of support for the officers who are suspended without pay after shoving 75-year-old Martin Gugino.

They are still employed, but no longer on ERT.

https://www.wivb.com/news/local-new...eam-resigns-in-support-of-suspended-officers/

good. Now they can hire some decent cops. If they quit over this, they are as bad as any cop.

Having re-watched the video, I'd say the guy was totally at fault for his injuries. Note the following if you watch it carefully.

The guy approaches the cops as they advance in strength. The police are clearly shouting orders at the man, repeatedly, but he ignores them and continues to try and engage the police clearly saying something to at least one of them. They shout at him again and then the one officer shoves him, probably intending to force him back and to retreat. Instead, the guy loses balance and falls hitting his head.

That's unfortunate but it is entirely his fault this situation occurred.

1. He should not have approached the police when he did.
2. He should have listened to their orders and complied. He did not.
3. The police reacted as trained trying to force him back as they advance.
4. The police line as trained continued forward with other police covering the guy until support staff (in this case medics) at the rear of the formation reach him and begin to treat him.

The police did nothing wrong. The guy is entirely at fault here for being a dumbass and not listening to the police and staying away from them.

Increasing the best people have no interest in being police officers, and that is not going to change anytime soon....what we will get are social justice goons.

Look at how he falls.....that so looks staged.

Victim blaming, police should always be approachable, their duty is supposedly to protect and serve. It’s entirely the policeman’s fault. They are taught, again supposedly, to defuse a situation. This was an assault.

Doesn't matter. The police reacted appropriately and correctly. You hear later in the video the police saying "Better get an ambulance for him," and "We have EMT on scene." They did EXACTLY what they were trained to do in an appropriate manner.

What alternative(s) do you propose they do instead?

Should they have stopped their whole formation to deal with this one asshole hassling them? That would mean ignoring everyone else they were occupied with to deal with one idiot. Not smart on their part.

Maybe you think they should have engaged him in polite conversation. That's equally stupid too. They weren't there to deal with him alone. That is clear and why so many police were present. They were dealing with a crowd, not one guy. They don't have time to sit down and sing kumbaya with that idiot.

What alternative to pushing him back did they have? Maybe they could have just beaten him down with their batons. That better? How about they force him to his knees, then to the ground and cuff him up? Not likely to look any better on video.

That guy is at fault for being an idiot and the police did what they were supposed to do. Too bad for him. Maybe next time he'll listen when faced with a mass of cops advancing in riot gear.

That is not what police are supposed to do.

That is bullshit.

What you are doing, in the pretense of being fair, is to condone police using more force than is absolutely necessary.

No one is required to be a cop. But if you decide that is to be your job...you should be committed to doing it using as little physical force as possible. That guy did not have to be pushed as hard as he was...PERIOD.

Victim blaming, police should always be approachable, their duty is supposedly to protect and serve. It’s entirely the policeman’s fault. They are taught, again supposedly, to defuse a situation. This was an assault.

I don't know how to put this politely, sorry. You are an idiot. Police dealing with a crowd in a riot situation are not approachable for a reason. They don't know your intention(s) and don't want to have you assault them or attack their line of advance. They have no idea what you are going to do. They are there to deal with everyone in a large crowd of people. They cannot waste their time chatting with you while everything else around them goes to hell in a handbasket.

They are protecting and serving by doing that. One moron approaching their line, for whatever reason, doesn't outweigh their need to protect property and the mass of citizens that aren't involved in the disturbance.

Like I stated, they are dealing with a crowd. Approaching them in what is a volatile and potentially hostile situation like that guy did is not what they want or anyone should do. The police do not know what your intentions are and cannot be held up by one whiny individual wanting to discuss things with them.

The old man was entirely at fault here.

good. Now they can hire some decent cops. If they quit over this, they are as bad as any cop.

Yup.

Good that they had a volunteer emergency response team.

Now they are going to have to go to a required team. And the ones who think they should not be on the team can quit and go find a job somewhere else. Trump seems to be "creating" lot of jobs for them.

If this was the contrived theater that it looks like it might be then this video going viral is exactly what the guy wanted....in which case next time he will do the same thing...because it worked.

You are a fucking moron...but at least this time you were not pretending to be reasonable and fair.

The police did several things WRONG...not nothing wrong.

But, as I said, you are a moron...so it probably is tough for you to see that.

“I will add that I try to be excruciatingly polite in my posts.“

Well, you’ve already lied about one thing...

Nah...not staged. Just a typical modern day liberal male. Unsteady on its feet. No one there to hold his hand.......

A lot of the meds that older people are on cause balance issues....I would want to see a list of his current meds if I am to take this seriously.

Actually, that is exactly what police are supposed to do in a riot. They control the crowd. If anyone in the crowd tries to engage them close up, they force them away or otherwise take actions to stop the actions of that individual.
Your last sentence is particularly stupid (sorry for being so blunt there). How does the officer know what is the correct amount of physical force to use in pushing the guy back? Should he just tap him lightly and say "get back?" You do note the police told the guy repeatedly to get back and away from him but he ignored that and continued to try and engage them.
So, the guy isn't listening to their orders and continues to do what they are telling him not to. What should they have done? Beaten him down instead? A firm push by the officer seems a totally appropriate escalation after the guy shows he isn't listening to their verbal commands. It's the guy's fault.

Yeah, Hawk...like the coronavirus thing was contrived by the left. They really are dedicated on the left...they got 110,000 people to die to pull it off...but it worked.
