As cities across the country are discussing defunding or disbanding their police departments, truck drivers are voicing concerns of safety. Seventy-seven percent of truck drivers say they will refuse to deliver freight to cities with defunded police departments.

Truck driving is historically ranked as one of the most dangerous jobs in the country. In 2018, U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistic reported truck driving as the most deadly job in the country.

Lets pretend you had a job. I know you don't, but lets pretend for the purposes of debate you were a trucker.

You decide to "punish" the Blue States by refusing to move food to them. The Blue States decide to punish you by refusing to pay you. Someone else takes your job, and gets paid to move food to Blue States. Who ends up starving in that story? You do.

I had to explain this to Nazi Bitch, but I guess I have to explain this again. The reason farmers farm is to make money. The reason truckers drive is to make money. The end goal here is to avoid starvation, and to buy the other things farmers and truckers need. If they do not sell their goods and services, they are replaced by someone who will.

But if farmers could just eat their own food, and truckers could just eat the food on their trucks, right? No. Farmers usually grow just one type of crop. They do not grow all the foods they need, much less all the manufactured items they need. It would be rare that a farmer would grow even 0.1% of their total needs. They buy everything else by selling what they produce. If they do not sell what they produce, they cannot buy what they need.

With truckers it is even worse. If they consume what they are supposed to ship (stealing it), then they will not be given more to ship. They are heavy consumers of diesel, so are very dependent on getting paid.

The fact is that almost everyone who has starved in the last 70 years has been a farmer. When the crops fail, they have nothing to sell to buy food. City dwellers can often find something more.

The other fact is truckers are not the most wealthy people in our society. If they had us by the throats, they would be far more wealthy.

Thats true. People do work to make money. If the cost of shipping to you becomes too much because of high crime rates then truckers stop coming.
