Gun deaths in New York State are much lower, at 4.1. I am willing to bet that gun deaths in New York City are even lower.

Japan went a year without any guns deaths a few years ago. Usually they have a handful among their population of 127 million people. I wonder why Japan is doing thousands of times better than the USA...

Simple; create a financial incentive: overpay to buyback the guns, and make the buyback anonymous.

So if you show up to a police station with a gun or guns to turn in, there's no questions asked and you walk out with a check.

If someone chooses not to sell their gun back, then when they die, that gun is surrendered to the state and no one gets a check.
 
Shootings have become breathtakingly normal this summer in Democrat controlled cities with large populations of negros.

I think Japan goes overboard with its gun control, but it does show what an "A+++++ rating" could do. They literally have less than 10 gun deaths a year in a country of 127 million people. There was literally a year they had no gun deaths.

Guns are not always going to be in the hands of criminals. Criminals are generally poor, and if we raise the price of illegal guns enough, no criminal will waste the money on a gun. It will greatly decrease the number of gun deaths from murder, suicide, and accidents. It will also reduce the overall number of murders and suicides. The same number of non-gun accidents will happen, but it does save lives.

The fact that about 200,000 guns are lost and/or stolen from "responsible gun owners" every year (and 10% of the time, they don't even tell the cops), leads me to the conclusion that we should have Japan-style gun control here.

Hunters can use crossbows and bows & arrows instead...like hunters used for thousands of years before the invention of gunpowder.

I don't think cops should have guns either.
