Writers write. That's why we pay them. Who wants a potus dumb enough to give important speeches off the cuff. You end up with no focus, no pace.
Digressions that end anywhere. You'd get 10 different speeches in as many tries.

Not many Abraham Lincolns or MLKs in the world. Besides, you don't know that the content was not batted back and forth between Biden
and the author(s). That's how I write appellate briefs. I take a stab, send it to second eyes, back to me and so forth until there is polished product.

You guys set them VERY low for Biden's speech, and he hit a home run w/ the bases loaded.

You're going to do the same thing w/ the debates now. Not sure if you know this, but Biden had a whole series of them as part of the Dem primaries - and he was far from a bumbling idiot. He'll not only debate Trump, but very likely win each of the 3 debates they have planned.

Hannity is far from being a moron. He knows what side to butter up. He is a businessman nothing more. He goes with the flow of his audience. I'm sure he has political convictions but doesn't let that stand in the way of making a buck.

Disagreed that "it wasn't Biden's" but I'll readily agree he had staff help him write it. It's pure Biden as far as he wanted to say, but it's smart to work with staff writers to ensure what he says is clear enough for most Americans to understand.

We've seen miscommunication on this forum because one poster assumes everyone else thinks and talks just like they do. Obviously that isn't so. The US is one of the largest and most populated nations on the planet. To assume everything someone says is equally understood by the majority is silly.

You notice I said nothing about Trump! Everyone who writes something has a second pair of eyes look at it if they have any brains. I would be willing to bet the first time Biden saw that speech was just before he read it to the audience.

FWIW, I hope Trump doesn't use a prepared speech next week. I sincerely hope he speaks completely off the cuff for 30 minutes so Americans can take a long, long look at him and decide if he deserves another four years as President...but you and I both know he'll be reading a prepared statement.

Doubtful. If I was to take a position and bet on that he read it several times in sessions ensuring the time was the right amount, having an expert or two
comment on his demeanor, eye contact, head movements, editing some content,
casually certainly, but businesslike. Not his first rodeo.

Well as I said it was anecdotal from a radio show I was listening to in the sticks. The subject was Hillary Clinton back then. He wanted her jailed and his call in listeners
wanted her hung from the rafters. As we KNOW, she has never been indicted for even a traffic ticket.
