California is a failed state. How do we know? They're moving to Arizona in droves.

Your simpleton approach to creating an explanation you like is laugh-inducing. California has the largest economy in America. If they are failed how bads the rest doing? People are moving because they are being uprooted by wildfires. There are charities and funds to help those that lost it all. Where else do you think Californian climate lovers are going to move to when they lose it all? More expensive to resettle back in California with its land premiums.

California also has:

A water shortage. A serious water shortage.
Can't keep the lights on. The state has rolling brown outs and black outs now.
Has the highest per KWH price for electricity in the US
Has one of the highest state tax rates in the US
Has the largest homeless population in America
Has the most people on welfare by far of any state
Has been consistently been seen as the least business friendly state in the US for well over a decade.
Has one of the highest costs of living of any state.

That's why people and businesses are leaving in droves. Silicon Valley has no "Silicon" in it anymore. All that's left are software developers and service providers like Google. The Silicon part (manufacturing) went to Arizona and Texas.

So many people are leaving California that there's an ongoing shortage of U-Haul trucks (and related companies) in the state to the point where the cost of renting one is more than double that anywhere else unless you are returning it to the rental location. That is, a one-way rental out-of-state is ghastly expensive now because they can't keep enough trucks in California to meet demand.

Rent a moving truck from Las Vegas to San Jose and you'll pay about $100. In the opposite direction, the same truck will cost you 16 times that, or nearly $2,000.

California is crumbling. It is going down the toilet bowl.

Scant few problems of modern society that can't be solved by having fewer people.
I say if you want to leave, please do. Why anyone would go to 110 degrees most every day
I have no idea.
