I believe this to be true. The 'Christian Nationalists', the ones that want a Christian-based country, are the ones that 'want our country back' and are at the root of the Problem.
The common theme that it is 'White Supremacists' is an easy 'Fall Guy' for all sides. Nobody can really defend 'white supremacy'.
'Christians' on the other hand is like a 'third rail'. Nobody wants to attack the 'Mother Religion'.

It's safer for Democrats to blame 'White Supremacists', why attack 'Christians' and automatically lose 30% of the population.
Republicans (The Party of God) would be shooting themselves in the foot if they admitted 'Christian Nationalists' were the Insurrectionists. How can you admit you are Traitors to the Republic?

Here's an interesting video, this lady is so close, she realizes Q is bullshit because none of the predictions have come true, and says believing in something blindly is bad, but won't apply that same logic to her religion.

Mahar has always been a outspoken atheist, and there is nothing wrong with that, but his argument is a stretch, one could say his “exalted respect” of his atheism falls in the same category

Yes, probably the vast majority of those at the Capitol were Christian, some mistakenly mixing religion and politic, however, most of those at this summer’s protests were probably Christian also, to infer much after that is a stretch

Trump absolutely needed the evangelist vote. He would never have been elected without it. He had to pander to that crowd. I don't see him as being very much of a believer himself but he knew he had to play it up to the Christian vote.

Worked!

They have a way of making it OK to believe in things that make no sense. They know Trump isn't very religious, so they decided that he didn't have to be if God sent him as he is. You know the old 'God works in mysterious ways' thing.

Anything they need to believe in, they'll find a way.

Now they will have to ask forgiveness.

I've said it before. Religious people show their susceptibility to being conned. They buy into a life-changing system, without a scintilla of proof. Once, they get that way, they stay prone to other cons. They buy a lot of My Pillows too. They buy that Corona is a hoax in spite of nearly half a million deaths. They accept that a very selfish rich man has their interests at heart. How?
When you are a skeptic, you question everything. When you are a conned type, you tend to believe.

"I blame Christianity" - Bill Maher

My two cents: I would not look to Bill Maher as a reasoned and lucid religious scholar. As I recall, he is also somewhat of a notorious Islamophobe, as well.

Personally, I attempt to never blame the religion of Islam for criminal organizations like Al Qaeda, I have never blamed the Jewish religion for militant Zionists, and I try not to blame the religion of Christianity for the actions of bible thumping Protestant fundamentalists.

lies, stupidity, tyranny

Your kinds time is coming to an end, demographically and other wise :)

my kind?.....dude, you claim be be a black, atheist, semite.....you are already part of the three groups most likely to become extinct.....if you wanted to be in the "in-crowd" you should have pretended to be Latino, Catholic, and an illegal immigrant......

I'm not sure that's an apt comparison. Atheism is more rational than religion. There is no reason to believe in a god, but there's no way to prove that there is no god either. That's why I'm agnostic.

How the Christian Right Helped Foment Insurrection

Christian-right activists inside and outside of government promoted the election fraud lie and claimed God told them to “let the church roar”

The January 6th Save America March, where then-President Donald Trump incited a crowd to attack the U.S. Capitol, opened with a prayer. Trump’s longtime spiritual adviser and White House adviser, the Florida televangelist Paula White, called on God to “give us a holy boldness in this hour.” Standing at the same podium where, an hour later, Trump would exhort the crowd to “fight like hell,” White called the election results into question, asking God to let the people “have the assurance of a fair and a just election.” Flanked by a row of American flags, White implored God to “let every adversary against democracy, against freedom, against life, against liberty, against justice, against peace, against righteousness be overturned right now in the name of Jesus.”

Coverage of the Capitol insurrection has focused on such far-right instigators as the white supremacist Proud Boys and the Three Percenters, a militia group. But a reconstruction of the weeks leading up January 6th shows how a Christian-right group formed to “stop the steal” worked to foment a bellicose Christian narrative in defense of Trump’s coup attempt and justify a holy war against an illegitimate state.
