Blacks have an easier time getting into college with test scores vs other races.
.
To the extent it is intelligible, this fact ^ is demonstrably false. Nobody gets into college solely on scores, and setting that observation aside arguendo
black people matriculate at much lower rates. Therefore they decidedly do not have an easier time getting into college on test scores.
Without getting into anyone's prejudices or preconceived idea as to why Black people do not find it as easy to get into college, (or even try to)
the point of affirmative action is to improve the numbers of them that do. So, you can say "they are dumb" or "the economy sucks for them"
or "they don't value education" or "they have learned helplessness" or any nefarious or innocuous rational of your choosing for all I care.
The point is to get a multicultural experience for everyone, and to get more education to those who may need it more. So allowing
a black man with a 1500 sat in over a white man with 1580 is justified so long as we agree there is a problem and a goal. If you think the goal of education
is to isolate the highest scoring tests and grades as the sole input for admission, then, yes, you will not be satisfied with this at all.
Personally I get pissed at the NCAA march selection committee for not just using RPI. But they have a bigger agenda. Let the little guys in.
Pisses me off whenever my team is on the bubble and some mid major my team could wax by 20 points gets in over my power conference team...
