Should OAN be Removed from the Airwaves in Order to Protect Our Democracy?

What do you think?

Like I always say....you are entitled to freedom of speech, but you are not immune from the consequences of said speech.

Destroying free press destroys democracy

allowing exceptions to 1st Amendment rights also destroys democracy, as Fox/OAN/Newsmax illustrate daily

United States free speech exceptions

1 Incitement
1.1 Incitement to suicide
2 False statements of fact
3 Counterfeit currency
4 Obscenity/indecency
5 Child pornography
6 Fighting words
7 Threatening the President of the United States
8 Speech owned by others
9 Commercial speech
10 Restrictions based on special capacity of government
10.1 As employer
10.2 As regulator of the airwaves
10.3 As educator
10.4 As subsidizer or speaker
10.5 As regulator of the bar
10.6 As controller of the military
10.7 As prison warden

Consequences cannot involve being taken off the air by any governmental authority. If people stop watching it will go way like the liberal Air America that lasted only about six years.

they should be taken off the air for violating the exceptions to 1st Amendment rights

Why not?

If the network is posing a threat to the country, it should be taken down and its purveyors should be prosecuted.

Unlike Air America, which was a radio network of affiliates, Fox News occupies a space on the broadcast spectrum...a spectrum entirely 100% owned by the government. And because of the way cable companies sell their packages, you cannot select or de-select the network a la carte. So it's always going to be included in the lowest cable tiers because unlike other networks, the carriage and sub fees for Fox News are much lower than they are for everyone else. That's why Fox News is usually included in the lowest tier of cable...it costs next to nothing to carry it.

If the network is posing a threat to the country, it should be taken down and its purveyors should be prosecuted.

You can't use partisan claims like "threat to the country" to violate constitutional freedom of the press. That sounds just like Donald Trump. It is a fascist attempt to stop political opposition.

Cable programming has more freedom than those stations broadcast through the air.

Many of those exceptions do not apply to television and especially do not apply to cable TV. False statement of fact are not exceptions to free speech. Incitement has a high standard and does not apply to media, nor does fighting words which is a rare occurrence.

Obscenity and indecency are rarely enforced and do not apply to cable channels since viewers choose to bring that content in the home while broadcast channels come into all homes.

None of those items is justification for taking any cable TV station off the air.

Apparently you can't comprehend what you are reading. I never said it was a court. It's about what the HOST of OAN said. Try reading it again....he's talking about MURDER (execution). So you think that's acceptable news?

Being "acceptable" is not the issue. It is his freedom to say them.
