The treatment can be used for individuals who are already diagnosed with COVID-19 that have a high risk for severe illness.
That includes senior citizens and those who are immunocompromised -- both vaccinated and unvaccinated.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued an emergency use authorization (EUA) for the treatment’s use in mild to moderate COVID-19 patients age 12 and older in November 2020.
Action News Jax reported shortly after in December when Baptist Health began offering monoclonal antibody treatments on a limited basis.
If the treatment is applied early and properly, DeSantis said it has the ability to reduce the likelihood for hospitalizations and death by 70%. Health officials say the treatment can be distributed by IV and other, faster methods.

It IS being used for severe cases. It is covered, at least partially, by Medicare and many major private insurers. However, like everything else, it has side effects. Once again, it is far better for your health and your wallet to prevent the disease in the first place. DeSantis, however, has made that political and decided that prevention = tyranny.
