Here are the major things to know about Marc Elias and his role as a top DEMOCRAT election lawyer.
First, Elias helped turn a few DEMOCRATS who appeared to have lost on election night into winners. In the 2000 presidential election, Elias worked on the team that represented DEMOCRAT Maria Cantwell in her defeat of incumbent Sen. Slade Gorton in Washington state.
In 2008, he represented the Franken campaign in Minnesota’s Senate race. It initially appeared that incumbent Sen. Norm Coleman won, but the election went into overtime with recounts. In 2010, a story was released that found at least 341 felons voted illegally, enough to have made the difference. Elias helped raise millions of dollars to overturn the race.
He also represented Mark Herring in Virginia, after a tight attorney general’s race in 2013. Herring was only found to be ahead by 164 votes after republican Mark Obenshain led by 1,000 on election night.
Additionally, Elias represented Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign in 2016, and was responsible for hiring Fusion GPS, the research firm that prompted the Russia hoax.
In 2020, Elias led lawsuits around the country to change state laws to allow for more mail-in and absentee voting, and to allow the practice of ballot harvesting. By April, Elias had filed more than 20 lawsuits in 14 states and vowed to double that by the end of the election cycle. He also founded Democracy Docket, a website dedicated to election litigation.
Finally, in March the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals sanctioned Elias and other lawyers with the Washington-based law firm Perkins Coie for filing a “redundant and misleading” motion in a case over a Texas law that got rid of straight-ticket voting.

How much do we need to spend on public schools? Could you provide a specific dollars per pupil number or should we just accept the vague "more"? How much should teachers be paid? Could you provide a specific dollars per year salary or should we just accept the vague "more"?
If under-performing public schools was the result of under-funding them, all schools with more funding would outperform schools with less funding. We know that is not the case, so your assertion is false. School performance is based far more on parental engagement and the quality of the teachers.

DEMOCRATS claim that critical race theory is “dog whistle” and has “never been taught in Virginia.”
But in 2015, when Terry "Global Crossing" McAuliffe was last governor, the Virginia Department of Education instructed public schools to “embrace critical race theory” in order to “re-engineer attitudes and belief systems.”
"Global Crossing" McAuliffe called opposition to critical race theory a “right-wing conspiracy” and slandered parents as “racists.”
But his own administration, and subsequently, the "Coonman" Northam Administration, extensively promoted critical race theory to all Virginia public schools.

You are correct. In addition, what the course teaches is not that "you're bad if you're white." It teaches awareness of how race has affected individuals and thus public policies throughout American history, and not always for the good.
I don't know about "only in law schools," though. It could certainly be a part of any college coursework involving sociology, social work, race and gender studies, etc.

That's a good article; thanks. The former school bus driver has no idea what is or is not being taught in public schools these days. Reichwingers confuse the mention of racism, slavery, Jim Crow laws, redlining, etc. -- all of which are history -- with the teaching of "critical race theory." They are, of course, wrong.
They always seem to need a buzzword or fake outrage to keep their base hungry. This is just one more of them. Much ado about nothing.
You are not "in the schools." However, three of my grandkids are in middle and h.s. They are not being taught CRT, even my g-daughter who is of mixed race -- and even my two g-sons who live in blue, blue Vermont. As you know, one of my daughters is actually a teacher. They are not teaching CRT in her school either.
Sorry, but teaching American history and our poor record with people of color is not CRT. What about the theory scares you so much?

What proved to be the best strategy of all was telling a lie- "I will stop the Critical Race Theory being taught in Virginia public schools"!
When in fact, there was never any Critical Race Theory being taught in Virginia schools to begin with- so saying you are going to stop something that don't exist is a BIG FAT LIE- And tends to scare White Mothers in a state that is 69% WHITE!
