3 men accused in death of Ahmaud Arbery now facing federal hate crime charges

Agreed on the Hate Crime stuff but not with all of your excitement and conspiracy theory nonsense.

IMO, hate crime laws were an appeasement to an outraged public over crimes committed solely because of a person's race, gender, sexual preference, religion, nationality, etc.

I'm with you; a broken arm is a broken arm. A murder is a murder.

I find it hard to believe you.

You look pretty inbred, Spaz.

How you get video of polish boy?

He's a good painter. Artist painter, that is.

Probably better to avoid that whole mess.

It could be kinda' cool, though.

Frankly, I don't see an acquittal anywhere in Travis McMichael's future. Generally speaking, if you're a defense attorney, you don't want to put your client on the stand and subject them to the withering cross-examination they'll undoubtedly face. The fact that McMichael's attorney felt it was necessary tells me that there's a sense of desperation there.

I hate to use the word, because it's become so passe, but this was a modern day lynching. White rednecks saw a black kid running, made a litany of unfounded assumptions, and then armed themselves and chased and killed the black kid based on those assumptions.

If Travis McMichael is awarded a life sentence, it'll be the luckiest day of his life...

Agree.

I wonder if the defense team put him on the stand because it seemed to work so well for Rittenhouse. McMichael's atty. even tried to evoke the same "in fear for my life" thing. Rittenhouse had a better drama coach though. McMichael just comes across as even more of a whiny sniveling punk who thought he'd be hailed as a hero and found out otherwise.

"Lynch" is a good word. Wait for the guilty verdict, and you'll hear it a lot more -- from the white supremacists, about their latest symbol.

No. Hate crime laws are bullshit.

They committed a crime. A crime is a crime.

If you don't believe me, watch how fast the black guy that ran people over is not charged with a hate crime even though he harbors more hate.

Hate crime laws were a foot in the door to try to control thought in America.

Thankfully the "hatespeech" bullshit that comes next was shot down.

This is absolutely Orwellian 1984 stuff.

A hate crime is when a perp targets random people because of their religion, race and/or orientation. It's an enhancement.

It's bullshit. A crime is a crime. Like I said, it was to be a foot in the door to pass "hatespeech" laws.

How many blacks have been charged with hate crimes so far, hmm?

None you say? Sum Ting Wong.

Bring back hanging and there's no need for hate crime laws.

Some blacks were charged with hate crimes against Asians.
