Snow-covered bridge in Pittsburgh collapses hours before scheduled Biden visit to tal

Republicans have not voted to do infrastructure in how many years now?

Remind me; how many DEMOCRATS voted in favor of the infrastructure plan that was proposed during the last administration?

Trump And DEMOCRATS Agree On $2 Trillion For Infrastructure, But Not On How To Pay

What happened there?

Did you support it?

Where is the $1.2 trillion?

If you knew how government works, you'd see it's spread out over a decade with states applying for infrastructure funding.

Obviously some states will need it more than others and there's the difference between building new infrastructure versus repairing/replacing the old.

Since 2011, inspectors had rated the overall condition of the bridge, especially its superstructure — that is, the part of the bridge that supports the road deck and rests on the substructure of arches, piers, girders and so on — as poor.

The 2017 inspection declared the bridge to be at the “minimum tolerable” condition to remain in place without remediation.

The details of the most recent inspection, in September of last year, are not yet known.

But the fact that the bridge was still open today suggests that no immediate threats were reported.

The coming investigation must focus on the structural causes of the failure, of course, but also on the organizational culture in city hall: Is the city tolerating intolerable dangers in our infrastructure, either due to lack of funds or lack of attention?

Discuss.

So, that means Biden's agenda is justified if not a little light. Our infrastructure shames the modern world. Europe has maintained buildings, etc that vastly predate our country and have modern ones that aren't deteriorating faster than they are being fixed.

ample money has been allocated (as we found in Virginia some years back) so what happened to those funds ?

remember what they discovered where the money to maintain the levees and water management systems in New Orleans went causing so much trouble during Katrina ?

this event is very suspicious.

Biden is proven right, over and over again. We have literally collapsing infrastructure. It is time that Republicans stop blocking the needed infrastructure repairs, and updates.

"Maintenance" is over for that bridge. I'd be investigating the engineers of it, tbh.

Long dead, probably.

Forbes Avenue Bridge: The steel span, built in 1970, is a common route for motorists into central Shittsburgh.

I suspect they can still vote DEMOCRAT, though.

Maybe it wasn't the first and worst of 446 bridges that need repairs?

And maybe it was.

What have any of the DEMOCRATS that have infested Shitty Hall done about any of them - they've ruled Roethlisberger's rancid roost since 1946 - and a DEMOCRAT was sullying the White House then too, wasn't he?
