So, You Want $15 An Hour?

And therein lies the problem. You think someone deserves more, not because they've earned it, but because someone else makes even more. I make a lot of money; sometimes I can't even believe it. Should my employees, who are already paid well, be paid more simply because I make a lot of money? No. They should be paid more when they demonstrate that they represent an even greater value to the company. When an employee does that we gladly and willingly give them a raise.

You can say I'm wrong, and that's fine. But what I know is what I see. Wal-Mart is drastically cutting down the number of cashier's at the front of the store and replacing them with machines. That's happening. The local Wal-Mart is preparing to be cashier-free in three years. That's happening. Now, from a philosophical standpoint is it wrong? Well, that can certainly be argued. But, while you're saying the cashiers deserve $20 an hour they're being replaced for wanting $15 an hour...
This is another "fake" issue created by the right-wing, in my opinion. Equal protection of our laws can easily solve this social dilemma as well. Labor should be able to obtain unemployment compensation for simply being unemployed in our at-will employment State. Our Legislators are delegated the social power to fix Standards for our State or the Union.

Yeah, you and the Waltons are cutting back on humans because paying them more would mean you people would not earn as much even though you are earning plenty...and the Waltons more than plenty.

Capitalism under the kinds of capitalists now operating will destroy itself.

In a nation as wealthy as ours...EVERYONE should start with sufficient. Not everyone has to have the same...but it should start with EVERYONE having sufficient.

But for those with no humanity...that seems to be a joke.

Fifteen bucks an hour isn't money. For a forty hour week, that's six hundred bucks.

Of course $15 an hour is money. What a stupid comment. It's not a lot of money, but it's certainly money...

It costs at least a hundred bucks for two people to grab dinner in these parts. How many times a week do you eat?

Right off the top of my head I can think of a dozen nice local restaurants where two people can dine for less than that. I even know a couple of places in Manhattan where you can eat for less than that. But, if you reqally think that's a problem, permit me to float the idea that someone who wants to eat out all the time should find a job that pays better than $15 an hour. Dutch Uncle has it exactly correct. "Minimum wage" shouldn't be funding fancy dinners. My smokin' hot Puerto Rican girlfriend and I went to Capitol Grille on Valentine's Day. The check, with the tip, was just south of $400; Filet Mignon, martinis, wine... it adds up. Now, we don't do that often, mainly on special occasions and such, but we're probably there six or seven times a year. I can promise you, no one dining in that room last Monday has a job that pays $15 an hour. Hell, the waiters in that joint can clear $100K a year.

Don't want to spend $400 on dinner? Got to Applebee's or Carrabba's. You can eat like a king for less than $100 at either one of those...

America will simply not survive with its current system of wealth distribution, and probably doesn't deserve to.

I guess I was absent the day they were distributing wealth. See, I worked for everything I have, and I make no apologies for that. I'm a charitable guy. But if you want to draw someone's attention to what you perceive to be a problem, bitching about not being able to enjoy $100 meals in a restaurant probably isn't the best way to go about it...

Yeah, you and the Waltons are cutting back on humans because paying them more would mean you people would not earn as much even though you are earning plenty...and the Waltons more than plenty.

Please do me the favor of pulling your head out of your ass so you can hear this: I haven't cut back on anything. I have 158 employees and I'm looking to hire some more. Yeah, I earn a lot of money. And you know what? I earn it. Nothing was given to me, nor do I get government subsidies or grants. I built both of my businesses up from nothing. My employees are well paid and, when they show that they represent an even higher value to the company, I happily give substantial raises. But, no, I'm not going to pay someone more money, when they haven't earned it, just because I make a lot of money. That's stupid...

Capitalism under the kinds of capitalists now operating will destroy itself.

Capitalism, and capitalists, are going to be just fine...

In a nation as wealthy as ours...EVERYONE should start with sufficient. Not everyone has to have the same...but it should start with EVERYONE having sufficient.

So, how do you propose we get to that point? Don't just sit there and whine. No one is more easily dismissed than a whiner with no alternative plan...

What do landlords think may be an optimum, rock bottom cost, for unemployment compensation as a form of non-statutory minimum wage? Automatic stabilization of our economy is what social policies can always be Good for. Equal protection of our own laws can help automatically stabilize that market-sector as well.

You and the others are willing to fuck labor...which, unfortunately, is the easiest factor of production to fuck.

Yeah, you pay the people well who make all that money for you...and fuck the people who do not have that ability or inclination.

Capitalism, and capitalists, are going to be just fine...

Not with the likes of you and the others turning it into shit, SG. Especially since the lot of you do not even realize your are alchemists doing exactly that.

So, how do you propose we get to that point? Don't just sit there and whine. No one is more easily dismissed than a whiner with no alternative plan...

There is an "alternate plan"...and has been for a long while; using some form of the UBI...which can be done.

I have no problem with people making lots of money...or with some people making lots more than others. BUT FIRST, IN A NATION WITH THE IMMENSE WEALTH WE HAVE...WE HAVE TO INSURE THAT EVERYONE HAS SUFFICIENT.

After everyone has sufficient for food, clothing, shelter, education, medical care, transportation, communication and a modicum of leisure opportunity...

...then let the dog eat dog begin.

If everyone had sufficient to begin with, I wonder how many of those people who now work so that you can get rich...would continue to work at those wonderful salaries you pay them now.

America will simply not survive with its current system of wealth distribution,
and probably doesn't deserve to.

If you eat out. Buying the raw food items and cooking for yourself costs a fraction of that. There is no system of wealth distribution in America. You get the wealth you can accumulate through work and savings not by government handout, or at least that's how it should be. Only charity and government handouts can redistribute wealth. At least charity is voluntary...

Other than that, $15 an hour is a starter wage at best. You should be moving up to higher paying jobs as you accumulate skills and knowledge. If you aren't doing that, that's your problem, not mine, or anybody else's.

You and the others are willing to fuck labor...which, unfortunately, is the easiest factor of production to fuck.

I have 11 employees who earn six figures. How am I fucking them?

I'll wait...

Yeah, you pay the people well who make all that money for you...and fuck the people who do not have that ability or inclination.

Okay, I'll pretend that your angry, woe-is-me comment actually has some merit: Why would I pay someone who doesn't want to work hard more money instead of letting them go? The people who make my company money are very well paid and rewarded (bonuses, etc), and that's from top to bottom. There was one employee who was a great worker. His problem is that he and his wife didn't have a car and he had to rely on public transportation to get to work. So, we were faced with letting him go or fixing the problem. We decided to fix the problem. We gave him a $5,000 "bonus" so he could get himself a reliable used car.

So again, please, tell me how I fuck over my people...

Not with the likes of you and the others turning it into shit, SG. Especially since the lot of you do not even realize your are alchemists doing exactly that.

Your jealousy is palpable. You have this idea in your head that anyone who has a successful business is bad. Well, fuck that. That's stupid...

I have no problem with people making lots of money...or with some people making lots more than others.

That's biggest bunch of horseshit you've posted yet. You make it clear that you have an almost debilitating hatred for those who are successful, probably due to the fact that you're not, and you're not because you're probably lazy. You just want things given to you. You would be someone who's shown the door at my company...

BUT FIRST, IN A NATION WITH THE IMMENSE WEALTH WE HAVE...WE HAVE TO INSURE THAT EVERYONE HAS SUFFICIENT.

After everyone has sufficient for food, clothing, shelter, education, medical care, transportation, communication...

I still haven't seen a solution from you. You're so fuckin' lazy you can't even come up with an idea of how to fix what you perceive to be a problem...

and a modicum of leisure opportunity...

"Leisure activity"? You want me to pay for someone else's vacation?? LOL! Hold on to that dream, boy. It's clear you've never worked a day in your pitiful little life, because it's clear that you're the type of person who is scared shitless of actually earning something...

If everyone had sufficient to begin with, I wonder how many of those people who now work so that you can get rich...would continue to work at those wonderful salaries you pay them now.

With very rare exception, pretty much all of them. In the last three years I've lost three employees. One was a Navy wife whose husband was getting transferred. One finished his degree and accepted a position at a large tech firm. We threw him a massive going away party. The third left my company because he'd been accepted at West Point.

I can see how this is going to go with you. You hate people like me who are successful and who has a company with high paying jobs that you'll never be qualified for. Your problem is that you're simply too inept that you've reached the stage where you believe the only way you'll have nice things and a good job with good pay is if they're given to you. Well, you'd better wrap your head around the fact that, with such an attitude, you'll get dick.

If you're not willing to even show that you're willing to work for what you want, then you'll get nothing, because nothing is will be what you have earned...

How much more general tax revenue can we generate by solving simple poverty so we can get the best bang for our buck by having more people circulate capital under our form of Capitalism?

Excellent. Work hard, get a good education, avoid drugs and alcohol and prove to your employer that you are worth what he/she is paying you.
He or she determines your worth to the company, by your contribution to the bottom line

That poster is 85 and has posted that he is on the edge of poverty...they only want handouts...parasites.

You are an idiot, SG...and if you actually have two successful companies, I suspect they exist in spite of you rather than because of you.

Anyway, a few comments:

1) I left home at age 17 (enlisted in the Air Force)...and have supported myself ever since. I have worked very hard...and when a job became less than fulfilling, I'd leave and work somewhere else. My presentation is such that I have never had much trouble landing that next job. Your comments on that score are bullshit.

2) You, and the others like you, fuck workers by getting them at the lowest price possible...rather than the supposed "fair price" you pretend you pay. Labor is easy to exploit...and you are an exploiter. Your comments to the contrary are bullshit.

3) My "jealousy" is "palpable???" What in the name of hell makes you think you have anything to be jealous of? You seem like an uptight, unhappy person who has almost no humanity at all. I'd sooner be jealous of a rock...although jealousy and envy are not really part of my make-up. I consider myself to be one of the most lucky people on the planet. Your thoughts on that issue...are bullshit.

4) Your thoughts that I am lazy are also bullshit, but I won't even get into that....other than to say that along with earning my way through life since age 17 (I'm now 85)...I have spent untold numbers of hours working as a volunteer in my community. I have served on a half-dozen important commissions...all with LOTS of work involved. Your "lazy" remarks are bullshit.

5) "You hate people like me who are successful and who has a company with high paying jobs that you'll never be qualified for."

You have no idea of what I am qualified for. But you like to dream up bullshit...so dream away. In any case, I do not "hate" anyone, you included. I just think you are an idiot...and a bullshitter. But I think I have made that clear.

The poor will always be with you.

A thousand years from now, the poor will be trying to get “sufficiency” from those who risk their investments in themselves. The 85 year old posted that he was a bartender...to old Blue Eyes.

President Trump...in the top five best presidents.

Way more than by increasing welfare and other social spending programs...
One study claims to have observed a multiplier of Two.

Combining all UI components, we find that, overall, the UI program closed 0.183 of the gap in real GDP caused by the recession. There is reason to believe, however, that for this particular recession, the UI program provided stronger stabilization of real output than in many past recessions because extended benefits responded strongly. Multiplier effects in real GDP were estimated to average 2.0 for regular UI benefits and also 2.0 for extended benefits.

Only the right-wing is that clueless and that Causeless when it comes to economics.

C'mon Frank, you've never run a business, dude. You have always been a cog in a machine. A fairly paid cog in a machine.

You had to conform to their standards or not be published, correct?

You made a life for yourself and all that, but here's the thing: There's many ways to make it in America.

Also, (and I'm sure you'll disregard/disagree on this part) MAGA is really just about getting back the opportunities you and I and Street Glider have had because they are disappearing for upcoming generations.

Tell me you weren't taught that 1 week's work should pay for your housing. I know I was..It costs them more now, and that's not fair.
