The only thing Palin has that's "clear" is the view from one ear to the other.

I am a little confused by the rank-order thing. It is not that hard for the voter (although they had 48 candidates) but I don't know how to compute the winner.
Race to the bottom. That's what happens when you turn the party into a reality t.v. show.
We just did it in NYC for the mayor. I believe that if any candidate gets less than 50% of the vote, there is a run off between first and second place. In essence, it keeps third party candidates from siphoning off enough votes to sway an election for an unpopular candidate.
In this instance, it was moot because the winner got more than 50%. It was a special election for a vacated seat, that must be filled again in November for a full term.
The winner can take time to compute.
If no candidate gets 50% of the vote, then the ballots for the candidate with lowest vote totals are counted using their second choice and added accordingly to the totals of the other candidates.
If that doesn't result in a winner with 50% the lowest candidate of that count is removed and the second choice on those ballots is counted. (Third choice if someone voted for the two candidates that came in last.)
The process continues dropping out the lowest vote total and adding the second choice to the higher vote totals until the 50% threshold is reached.
Senate/Governor are two different animals. Not sure about Texas, but across the nation there is a flood of new voter registrations by women.
Between the disaster that is the Texas Libertarian power grid, and Abbot's ridiculous abortion laws, I think the vote will be close. Especially since birth control is next on the chopping block.
Perhaps another mass shooting is necessary to push Beto over the top?

Is math that hard for you, Bigdog?

That's a totally different delusion, and not rampant in the entire party. The 'Silent Majority' was neither, but it did pander to a large voting block. trumpism encourages stupidity, and pushes the dumbest among us to run for office.Trump is a result, not a cause. Ever since the Republican Party started letting Christian Nationalism dictate their agenda, they've been destroying themselves. It's been a three decade process from Anita Bryant to Donald J. Trump.
That's true in the sense that when they force the run off, they can endorse a candidate that they feel better represents their positions. It also GIVES third party candidates the benefit of not being a "throw away" vote. For all the people I see online belly-aching about our shitty two party system, you'd think it would be more popular.
I understand that part. The winner must get a majority of votes from voters who ranked more than one candidate. That part seems difficult to count and it took AL a few days to determine the outcome. I'm not sure if the general election works differently than the special election.
FTFY. That check comes from investments in the stock market , stupid. Not from the gubmint. The only role gubmint has is to administer it. PIMCO founder Bill Gross set that up.Bwahahahaha! Hate to tell you this, Beulah, but Alaskans are hardly "left" -- unless of course you want to include their annualsocialistcapitalist PFD checks.
I don't think Abbot is being blamed for the power grid problems and Texas is generally anti-abortion. Beto doesn't really have any major issues to run on. There are the Democratic-Republican issues, but personality is more of an issue in governor's races. No Democrat has been elected to a state-wide office in Texas since 1994. In 2020 Republicans even gained some of the Hispanic vote in South Texas.
JPP posters seem to be overly optimistic for their side in elections.
It must be the same for general elections where there are more than two candidates. The NYC mayoral election had numerous candidates.I understand that part. Abbot isn't coming out for hooking to the national power grid either. I wonder if Beto would?
Texas now favors abortion outright, and overwhelmingly in cases of rape/incest/mother's health. Miscarriages are now being ignored by doctors.
I guess we'll find out in November.

Obama only lasted 2 years of his 6 year Senate term. Did you have a point?
Given the spread between Beto/Cruz, that's exactly what changes expected outcomes. Are you saying that a governor cannot ease the burden doctors/women face when dealing with miscarriages/ectopic pregnancies?People tend to vote their party affiliation/leanings. For example, none of those events or issues (Dobbs, etc.) would have changed your vote. You probably planned to vote Democratic two years ago and nothing changed that plan. The same applies to Republicans. It might increase turnout somewhat among younger pro-abortion voters, but not enough change the results.
If Beto wins it does not change the abortion laws in Texas. The law is already in place and he cannot alter that. The state legislature only meets in odd-numbered years and Democrats are not going to take control.
I'm in one of the parts of Texas not in the ERCOT grid so we lucked out in the freeze. Republicans blamed the problems on the failure (freezing) of the wind farms that contribute 20% of Texas power. ERCOT analyses shows the wind power to be a small percent of the problem.
He's an inbred moronObama went on to a higher office after four years, not two years as you claim. Palin just dropped out.
