"It's OK to be white"

It’s ok to be white, it’s not okay to promote racism.

That's true, but the real issue is exactly what one defines as racism/promoting racism.

Unfortunately, in this day and age, people on both sides of any issue insist on going overboard in slapping labels on others who they don't see eye to eye with, in the furtherance of every cause no matter what it may be.

There are too many people who will hurl accusations of racism over any critique of any black or non-white culture, no matter how truthful or accurate.

OTOH, there are also too many people on the opposite side who actually ARE racist, and who happily lump all minorities into the same category because they're too lazy and happy with their prejudiced views, to differentiate or admit that the negative qualities they associate with non-whites, also apply to a lot of whites and people in general. Something which if they admitted it, would nullify their reason for holding on to their narrow views.

The problem today as I see it, is that there are not enough people with the common sense required to look at the situation rationally, or the ability to set aside their preconceived notions about other people, whether they're talking about blacks or whites or liberals or conservatives or straight people or alphabet people or whoever, and try to make an honest assessment.

We have become a society that is dominated by fools who seem to thrive on conflict.

I haven't listened to or read any direct quotes of the interview with the remarks in context, so I don't know if he meant blacks in general or just the ones who disagree that "It's OK to be white".

If it was the former, he deserves the backlash.

If it was the latter, his comments deserve discussion and analysis rather than knee-jerk reactionism.

At any rate, even if every newspaper stops publishing his strip, he can continue to publish Dilbert books and sell Dilbert merchandise etc.

His income might take a big hit, but he'll be fine.

I happen to agree with the sentiment "It's OK to be white" BTW.

Heartily.

Adams:

“Based on the current way things are going, the best advice I would give to White people is to get the hell away from Black people,” Adams said on his YouTube show. “This can’t be fixed. You just have to escape.”

I'd love people to point out how that is not an explicitly racist statement.

Many US newspapers including the Washington Post have dropped the long-running Dilbert cartoon strip after its creator made racist comments.

In a video on YouTube, Scott Adams, who is white, said black Americans were part of a "hate group" and that white people should "get the hell away" from them.

Mr Adams, 65, later acknowledged that his career was destroyed.

He said most of his income would be gone by next week.

Dilbert has been a mainstay of the funny pages of America's newspapers, and features a put-upon office worker and a talking dog, who together take aim at the fads of corporate culture.

Among those media outlets that have dropped the Dilbert cartoon strip are the USA Today network, which operates dozens of newspapers, and the Los Angeles Times.

The Washington Post said Mr Adams' remarks promoted segregation.

His comments were made in response to a survey conducted by the firm Rasmussen Reports in which people were asked to agree or disagree with the phrase: "It's OK to be white."

The phrase is believed to have emerged in 2017 as a trolling campaign and has since been used by white supremacists.

Not only is it o.k to be white,....its actually GREAT! The same can also be said for Hispanic people, Black, Asian, Indian, Middle eastern, ect ect ect...

He said things that were so bad that he knew he was cutting his throat. He voiced bigotry and hatred. That is the problem.

You have to be a committed racist to say stuff you know will end your career.

It's entirely possible that he didn't care, so he figured why not speak his mind?

If he was only talking about blacks who feel that it's not OK to be white, he made a valid point.

Why should any white person associate with any black people who think it's not OK for you to be what you were born as?

The key word in Nomads post was ONLY,... as in ONLY talking about blacks that hated you simply fr being white. Does Biden President make a habit of hanging with people who despise him? Bet not.
