Trump and Chancellor Musk are already making noises that they don't have to follow the rules of Federal judges.
But few in number, aren't they, in terms of imposing martial law?
Dictators don't need a Congress but they do need a compliant populace. Maybe Americans have lost their nerve and would succumb to dictatorship. I'm on the maybe not side of that question.
What's to impose? Trump would merely declare martial law, cancel the Midterms "until the emergency is over", and do as he pleases. The economy might crash, but like Trump delaying telling Americans about COVID until he realigned his business portfolio, the Oligarchs would be prepared for it.
Like 9/11, most Americans would become sheeple and wait for our leaders to handle it.
It depends upon how it is imposed. The Republicans are letting him do whatever he wants.

Whatever "do as he pleases" means. Hopefully, Americans are not yet the "sheepies" that depression battered Germans were in 1930's, that our long history of personal freedom still means something. There might be and hopefully would be an important difference in how blue states and red states respond to Trump taking a throne. Anyway, I suspect it would be a disaster all around including for Trump.
Seems to me they are. Where are the protests about Trump's actions so far? The price of food? Rising inflation? "Long live the King"?
IMO, I think most Americans are simply too weary to fight.
