Chinese biological anthropologists are quite comfortable treating race as a biological category.

A significant 2023 review by Chinese anthropologists (abstract screenshotted below) states that “the concept of race cannot be abolished”, while acknowledging that racial boundaries have become blurred (a reference to the existence of admixed and intermediate populations such as Uyghurs).

But the key point is this: acknowledging that geographically differentiated human populations constitute biologically meaningful groups is a perfectly respectable position within mainstream Chinese biological anthropology."
