No, the Russians didn't even know it was there. At that time, the 1960's Russian air defense radar systems were hardly complete in more remote regions of the Soviet Union, like well up into the Arctic. McNamara wanted to preempt the Soviets with a nuclear first strike. He, like you, was an idiot.

No, there were no SAM batteries on the Kola Peninsula at that time. There was no early warning radar in that area either. U-2's are not particularly fast either.
