The Trump administration released new rules that could revoke tax-exempt status from any school offering targeted support to Black or other minority students, a sweeping change that opens another front in the president’s campaign to reshape American education.

Why should the federal govt pay for education? They have no constitutional authority to be involved with education

That's not even the point here, though. @Hume is pretending that what's outlined in the NYT article he posted is as described, apparently.

The point is moot since the federal govt has no constitutional authority to be invloved with education.

"Who is "we"?

I don't recall the US Constitution mandating universal education at public expense.

Do you?
They usually come back with the "public welfare" bullshit as if that should allow the govt to do whatever the fuck it pleases if they can claim its good for the public welfare.

ICYMI; this is about tax-exemption status. It has nothing to do with the Department of Education.

The rules would deny tax-exempt status to any school, including secondary schools and universities, if it has any policy or program, including admissions and scholarships, that the I.R.S. finds to be racially discriminatory.

Youre not suggesting schools do racially discriminatory things are you? Like preferential treatment for blacks?
