So what would be the advantage for me or my kids if I or they had attended a university that had a Holberg Prize winner?
It wouldn't matter since you and your kids are not elite students, and do not have the ability, talent, or drive to be among the best in your chosen professions. I didn't have the grades for Harvard or Columbia either.

There's nothing wrong with just being competent and getting paid to do a serviceable job.

But Nobel laureate Richard Feynman and Holberg laureate Jurgen Habermas were not looking for B-plus and A-minus undergraduates from LSU and Akron State to mentor.

You cannot make an assertion like that and prove it, retard.
And you are a pretentious piece of fucking hubris-filled dog turd. Shut The Fuck Up.
Seriously. Stop taking airs above your station, you fucking fuck.
I had a 4.1+ GPA and was offered a full ride at one of the most prestigious colleges in this great country, boy.
Turned it down because I knew how it was there, all the richest kids in the country went there, and I'm just a poor shnook.
:BKick:
Was friends with some of them, and I know.
No I can't chip in $15K for an island party this weekend. (back then)

Earlier you took a swipe at Florida. Yet Paul Dirac wound up working for FSU!!
That was 50 years ago when he was 70 years old, retired from Cambridge University, and decades past his historic landmark days in quantum physics at Cambridge.

It's hilarious that my posts bothered you so much you had to do ten minutes of frantic Google research to look that little factoid up. 🤣

Paul Dirac....You can google that name, so you can name check it later when you want to sound smart!
I've mentioned Dirac numerous times on this board. Did you actually think he was some obscure, little-known minor scientist? 🤣

June 16, 2026 - The preeminent 20th century theoretical physicist Paul Dirac famously said: "God is a mathematician of a very high order, and He used very advanced mathematics in constructing the universe".

Dirac was an atheist, but he was using God as a metaphor for how unexpected and incomprehensible the order and rational intelligibility of the universe is.

August 2023 - Oppenheimer, he was no Einstein. And he’s not even up to the level of Heisenberg, Pauli, Schrödinger, Dirac, the leaders of the quantum revolution of the 1920s.

I love your special pleading. It's always refreshing.

trigger you if someone thought you didn't know who Paul Dirac was!
You're the one that claimed I would have to Google to know who Dirac was.
Proving you disastrously wrong is not "triggered"

Dirac is known to any serious college student who had a few semesters of physics and bothers to read popular science magazines. What exactly led you to believe he was obscure and mysterious? lol

Most of your comments are idiotic. Hard to believe you are intelligent.

Lets see if I can return this thread to the topic.

Why are the liberal arts important? First, traditionally liberal arts include math and science. So it includes more than just the humanities.

Douthat: But it’s liberal arts colleges that are on the chopping block first.

Then there’s this, I think, political and cultural polarization that’s eaten away at the humanities from both sides, with the left critiquing the very idea of a canon, that it’s all just dead white male privilege, and the right saying: Oh, these liberal arts academics. They’re all just irredeemably woke. They should be defunded in favor of more useful subjects.

The seven classic liberal arts include logic, grammar, arithmetic, geometry, astronomy, rhetoric, music, logic.

Somewhere in the last 40 years, Rush Limbaugh and Fox convinced right-wingers who never went to college that a liberal arts major means basically taking basket weaving, black studies, and feminist studies courses.

The liberal arts education in college still means a classical liberal education with coursework in math at least up to analytical geometry, science electives, language and literature, social studies, and civics.
