Acquiring the PhD is suitable for someone who is single. It's big time commitment, and then you would have to drag your family across the country to do post docs.

Having a PhD is important in academia, but a masters degree is about as high as anyone outside of academia cares about. Even a masters degree is not absolutely necessary usually.

A PhD in private industry is almost sometimes a liability, because you're viewed as over qualified. The several PhDs we had did not really perform any better than our staff with Master's degrees.

Notice that Trump has yet to receive any Nobel despite his massive number of peace deals and war-endings.

It's all about political ideology and nothing about making the world smarter somehow.

What's that got to do with my comment on the Nobel awards for chemistry and physics? The peace prize is awarded by a completely different committee appointed by the Norwegian parliament. The science awards are determined by science committees at the Swedish academy of sciences.

Learn to read English for comprehension. Those awards are awarded for demonstrating faith and activism to the ideology, not for making the world smarter in chemistry or physics.
