California lands six universities in the global top 25

Stanford, UC Berkeley, CalTech, UCLA, UC San Francisco, UC San Diego

California schools quietly dominated a major global rankings list

Anyone Who Swallows His Pride Will Choke His Talent

Little Mamas' Boys sucking their thumbs in college classrooms, working without pay because they're afraid to grow up. Job thieves who submit to student poverty because nobody with any pride and maturity would do that, eliminating the talented whose jobs gradchewits get merely by brown-nosing.

Those plutes who mandate this unmanly indentured servitude better give the talented the same adult allowance and paid-up tuition they give to their Preppy Parasite sons or daughters, or else we Commoners will make sure their brats never graduate, at least by making their lives so miserable they'll drop out.

Oil business dried up in 1986 in NO. They moved to Houston!
☝️
This is a massive lie. They did not all just decamp and abandon N.O. in the 1980s.

Some of the major multinationals, maintained offices in New Orleans into the 1990s when I was there; Shell USA, Exxon, Chevron, Mobil. That's not even to mention the independent small and medium oil production and exploration companies.

Out of desperation, you obviously stooped to lying to "prove" I am supposedly a notorious liar. 🤣

How wonderful for California.
Absolutely! And how wonderful for you you have Liberty University. Now - full disclosure - the trump supporting couple running that highly "Crisss-Tyan" university had to resign in shame because Fallwell, Jr. was watching his wife get it on with the Latino pool boy while he sat in the corner and - - you know...

Anyway, have fun there boss! Do write us once in awhile.

Demoncraps base their entire campaigns on "...Republicans base entire campaigns about a handful of transgenders playing NCAA women's basketball..." its been the same tired trope for decades.
So are you going to stop doing that, Yagina?

Love is in the air, Perry and Top. 💘

Who would have thought a thread about the world's best universities would inspire such festering resentment and bitterness from Perry!

Really. I guess when your "science degree" was obtained at Google's search engine, that tends to happen. lol

Besides they never would’ve hired an oceanographer. They employed engineers and geologists.

I believe Cy claims to have been a "geophysicist". It would be unlikely that they would hire him as an "oceanographer" to sit a well and log the stuff that came up.

I doubt he was an actual geophysicist (he simply doesn't seem to have the skills)

What a sad little HOA trashpanda. Kvetching about other people. Sad

Oh, the

UCLA was the birthplace of the internet. That's is noteworthy considering how many Internet-users on this thread have been raging at the University of California. lol

You're going to need to borrow one of our Great Lakes ore freighters to carry all this irony.

While Republicans base entire campaigns about a handful of transgenders playing NCAA women's basketball, the mainstream economists will tell you that economic growth depends on infrastructure, productivity, and education.
There is no such thing as a 'mainstream economist'.
YARP. Try to stay on topic.

Average annual income is higher in California than in Alaska, Texas, and Florida, and venture capital investment in California is larger than all the other 49 states combined.

Wait, don't you live in Louisiana?
The state you choose to live in has the worst poverty in the nation.
No. The SDTC currently has the highest poverty in the nation with 14.4 million people in poverty. (Source: Public Policy Institute of California).
That's about 35% of the territory.

Lousiana only has 0.91 million people in poverty, most of that in New Orleans, a Democrat run city, which is only 19% of population. (Source: KNOE)

The SOTNY has a 25% poverty rate, mostly centered in New York City, still not as bad as the SDTC, but the SOTNY comes in 2nd, just behind the SDTC. (Source: Columbia University)

Housing is expensive here in part because people would like to live here. That's capitalism.
No. Housing is expensive because of oppressive regulations. That's fascism.
People are LEAVING the SDTC, if they can.
My gasoline is more expensive,
Over twice the price. All taxes and oppressive regulations, and the fuel shortage caused by SDTC refineries closing due to oppressive taxes and regulations.
but my electric and utilities are cheaper,
Nope. About the highest in the nation at 34.74 /kwh. The only highest rate is Hawaii, at 52.72/kwh.
The SDTC has closed many of its cheap energy sources, favoring expensive solar and wind power. It now does not generate sufficient power to sustain itself, and must import most of its power on two heavily loaded transmission lines.

One load spike on either of them will force the WRIC to disconnect the SDTC. WRIC will NOT sacrifice itself to save the SDTC.
It will probably happen on a hot day, with all those air conditioners and EV chargers running...the highest load point in the evening when people head home and cook their meals.

and my income is significantly higher than demographically comparable people in Texas, Florida, and West Virginia.
...and it's also taxed more than comparable people in Texas, Florida, and West Virginia.
Then, of course you have the oppressive regulations on top of that, and the shortages of fuel, water, and sense.

Haha. California is the ultimate dichotomy. We have the most wealth, leaders in entertainment
Movie studios are preparing to leave.
High poverty, oppression, and high taxes is not wealth.
and innovation and incredible Universities.
Lousy universities. They no longer teach science, but deny it instead. They suck at most engineering disciplines, and suck at medical discliplines. Even the 'liberal arts' education isn't.

They have become indoctrination centers, nothing more.
At the same time we had the highest poverty rate (until the new numbers just came out and Louisiana overtook us) so now we're #2.
Louisana poverty rate is nowhere near what the poverty rate in the SDTC is right now.

I can see why you didn't want to mention your state of Louisiana, because they are economically backward.
Economy doesn't have a direction. There is no such thing as a 'backward' economy.

Louisiana chemical and petrol plants are unmatched in the nation.
NASA and other test rocket engines there.
SpaceX is building a huge launch facility there.
It also has very productive farmland and seafood processing there. Most seafood consumed in the United States comes through Louisiana.
It also sits on a major river and has correspondingly high marine traffic.

Since the 1960s California became the world's fifth largest economy, and a global epicenter for R & D and technological innovation because it invested heavily in infrastructure and higher education.

Infrastructure, innovation, and education are pillars of economic growth. That is Economics 101.
Nope. It is not the worlds fifth largest economy. Not by a long shot. Argument from randU fallacy.
Texas beats you for one thing, ranking States and territories:

RankStateManufacturingAgricultureOilNatural gasOther mineralsTotal physical goods
1Texas$808.0B$37.6B$137.5B$44.6B~$6.0B~$1,033.7B
2California$656.1B$67.4B$6.9B~$0.1B~$4.5B~$735.0B
3Ohio$374.0B$14.6B$3.3B$7.4B~$5.0B~$404.3B
4Indiana$333.7B$16.3B$0.09B~$0.1B~$1.5B~$351.7B
5Illinois$319.6B$24.4B$0.43B~$0.1B~$2.0B~$346.5B
6Michigan$308.2B$12.2B$0.26B~$0.0B~$3.0B~$323.7B

9Wisconsin$218.9B$16.9B$0.26B~$0.0B~$1.0B~$237.1B

The 5th largest economy right now is Germany, at $950 billion tangible goods produced, far more than the SDTC (California).
Again, Texas beats that.

(Sources: US Census, public market activity figures 2024 (latest year available)).

Note that Louisiana is in the top 10 of States and US territories.

UCLA was the birthplace of the internet.
Nope. The internet formed from the creating of DARPA. The TCP/IP protocol was created by a couple of folks at Stanford in 1973.
Today is 2026, and schools in the SDTC are horrible now.
That's is noteworthy considering how many Internet-users on this thread have been raging at the University of California. lol
You obviously don't know history. Presentism fallacy.
