The "hero" who shot dead a teenage gunman after he had already killed three children and a teacher at an elementary school in the US state of Oregon was named Friday by his brother.

Kaylub Giamanco raced into Silver Rail Elementary in Bend after the shooter, identified by local media as 16-year-old John J. Griffin II, blasted his way through locked doors and opened fire on youngsters.

Kyle Giamanco said 36-year-old Kaylub, who has two children at the school, was driving home for his lunch break when he heard gunshots and saw Griffin going into the special education room of the school.

Kaylub Giamanco has a permit to carry a concealed weapon, his brother told NBC, adding that he was having difficulty processing events at the moment and feels guilty that he did not save more people.

US President Donald Trump hailed Giamanco as a "great hero."

"As bad as it was, we had a great hero that went in and did the business," Trump told journalists. "It's a terrible thing, but thank goodness for a man that had a gun and knew how to use it."

I can’t help but wonder which gunman at the scene is he praising

The murderer was a man with a gun who knew how to use it too

Trump always gives weird answers like this

Common sense

Canadians are allowed to own guns, but they must follow strict federal laws and hold a valid license. Gun ownership in Canada is treated as a regulated privilege rather than a constitutional right

Safety Training: Must successfully complete the Canadian Firearms Safety Course

Must pass screening for criminal history, mental health records, and domestic violence history, including reference letters

Licenses must be renewed every five years

Prohibited: Includes automatic weapons (like fully automatic machine guns), sawed-off shotguns, and over 2,500 specific makes and models of assault-style firearms (such as AR-15 variants

Yea no mention of why the troubled kid was given a gun to begin with , just thoughts and prays as always

In a statement, the National Rifle Association reiterated the importance of "law-abiding armed citizenry," pointing to the community member who followed the gunman into the elementary school and stopped him before more violence could occur.

"His decisive actions exemplify the heroism of everyday citizens who are prepared and ready to respond when innocent lives are on the line," the group's social media statement said.

Another gun hugger who doesn’t get it, if the shooter hadn’t had access to a gun, which nearly everyone in America has, three kids and a teacher would be alive today
I already know you despise the Constitution of the United States and all State constitutions, anchovies.
There is no such thing as a 'gun hugger'.

It is not possible to prevent a criminal from having a gun.

So...shoot back.

Irrelevance fallacy. Strawman fallacy.

...and they happen to be right. Trump called him a hero too.
It takes a certain amount of guts to go into a situation where a murderer is shooting people and being prepared to stop the carnage.

Why do you support murderers, Gunky?

If this man isn't invited to the whitehouse to be exploited before next mos eleciton....it'll be because he don't have 100% white linage..his name alone reeks of child of immigrants.

The United States and Yemen have some of the loosest and most permissive civilian gun laws of recognized sovereign nations.
