Ossoff: ‘Something uniquely despicable about lying a nation into war’​

Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-Ga.) on Sunday took a swing at President Trump over the Iran war, saying he lied “the nation into a war.”

During a Sunday rally in Atlanta, the Georgia Democrat went after Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth for their management of the war against Iran.

“Remember, last year, they claimed Iran’s nuclear program had been obliterated? Then, this year, they claimed it posed an imminent nuclear threat? Both times, lies. On day one of the war, listen to this, day one, the president said the war was quote, ‘Ahead of schedule.’ Ahead of schedule. On day four, he declared victory. Today is day 170,” said Ossoff, who is running for reelection this year.

The senator then turned his criticism to Hegseth.

“Listen to this, on day nine of the war, the incompetent Pete Hegseth guaranteed Iranian surrender. On day 14, he claimed Iran’s military had been destroyed. On day 40, he said every single objective had been achieved. That was four months ago,” Ossoff added.

The Georgia Democrat later stated that “there’s something uniquely despicable about lying a nation into war, treating citizens as fools and those who serve as pawns.”

LBJ lied the US into the Vietnam war. That is an undisputable fact. Trump went to war with Iran, and hardly the first time on that or even the first President on it, with some degree of reasonable cause. It is proven that LBJ lied about the Gulf of Tonkin incident, plain flat out lied. I doubt your, Cypress, or Ossoff, or for that matter anyone else, can show clearly and unequivocally that Trump lied to get into a war with Iran.
 
Agreed.

The most egregious crimes imo are:

- murder an innocent (obviously denying someone their life)
- starting wars for profit and on false premise (causing wrongful death on both sides)
- imprisoning an innocent with lies (denying them liberty)
- raping (mental harm) or doing permanent physical harm to an innocent (as Trump did to E jean, etc)

Any person who does the above type crimes deserves a special place in hell.

Did Ossoff claim Trump is the sole one who did that?

How is your post not a whataboutism unless he is claiming Trump alone did it?

Or are you pushing a narrative that any time anyone wants to discuss a crime any person has just done and how they think it is bad, then the appropriate reply is to point and say 'other people have done that too'.?

Because it demonstrates that his statement is wrong. Even if you accept Trump lying to get into a war with Iran, it is not unique. Therefore, Ossoff's claim is wrong, as is the title of this thread.

If you want that version, it still slaps down LBJ but not Trump. LBJ's lie to get into Vietnam is undisputable. On the other hand, the situation with Iran has plenty of wiggle room for justification to engage in a war with that country.

Uniquely despicable means an act or deed so morally reprehensible it is surpasses all similar actions in outrageousness.

Some would say intentionally doxing another poster is a uniquely sinister act in the pantheon of internet message board etiquette.

Yet, when shown a case of what you are claiming only with a Democrat, where it is undisputable, suddenly you shift your argument from this being about Trump and demonstrating how he "lied" to defending the Democrat.
