Lindsay Clancy, the mother who, by her own admission, killed her three young children and then made a serious attempt to take her own life (which left her paralyzed from the waist down) is on trial for murder.


Her defense team have argued that she is not guilty because she was insane at the time she killed her children. They claim she was experiencing (post-partum) psychosis at the time she took her children' In psychiatry, "psychosis" refers to a break with reality - a loss of contact with reality. Schizophrenia is a psychotic disorder because of of its classic symptoms is hallucinations. Many people who have schizophrenia see things or hear things that are not there. Things that do not exist in reality, in the actual, real world. Psychosis is a form of what medical professionals would call "MADNESS". or, in the legal context, "INSANITY".


Earlier this week a forensic psychologist gibing testimony for the prosecution, Dr Kirk Heilburn, totally blew -the defense's case that Lindsay Clancy was INSANE (i.e. suffering from a psychosis) at the time she murdered her three children - out of the water. He claims that Clancy had "fabricated" psychosis, by saying that she had heard verbal hallucinations commanding her to kill her children. To put it bluntly, she had lied, and Heilburn had caught her, BIG TIME! The testimony he gave challenging the defense argument that Landay Clancy was suffering from post-partum psychosis was CLEAR, MEASUTED, PERFECLY RATIONAL AND PERFECTLY LOGICAL. It looked pretty damn water-tight to me, and it suddenly made sense of what had been a very complicated and confusing trial that was "choc-a-bloc" full of woolly, psychological bullshit.


I realize that this is a tragic affair for all involved, and that Lindsay Clancy was struggling with serious mental health issues. The problem is that that the murder of her children was planned a calculated and deliberate. Lindsay Clancy was not legally insane at the time she took their lives - she knew what she was doing was wrong. I am 99% sure she will be found guilty and sentenced to life in prison. IMO she is a very decent woman who was simply dealt a bad hand after she had her third child. It is one of the saddest things I have ever witnessed.

Dont be so sure, its Massachusetts. They just passed a law there allowing women to kill their babies up to the day of birth so the lives of kids in Massachusetts arent worth all that much.

As to this loon she may have an explanation for why she did it but not an excuse. After the killing of the children the most horrifying aspect is that women are coming to her defense and they're blaming everyone and everything from the healthcare system to her husband.

If the Jury are normal, intelligent adults and they weigh the Prosecution case objectively, they have no option but to deliver a "GUILTY" verdict. However, I heard that most or all of the jurors are women. That means anything could happen, especially in this case. There is no doubt that Lindsay Clancy was suffering significant/severe mental distress after she gave birth to her 3rd child, but it is clear - from the yestimony given by the final two experts for the Prosecution - she did not. at any stage, experience post-partum psychosis.

The whole case is very tragic, and women are naturally vulnerable to allow their emotions - in this case: empathy, compassion, sympathy. kindness. to cloud their more rational and objective thought processes. I mean, I am a, pretty hard-boiled, male asshole and even my heart went out to: Lindsay Clancy when I saw her in Court (?).

I think women are the barbaric gender.

This is what I have learned from actual life and direct experience and observation.
