A prominent Georgia Republican who ran a Ponzi scheme that federal prosecutors said caused losses of more than $76 million to more than 300 victims has been sentenced to spend 15 years in federal prison.

Edwin Brant Frost IV, 69, had pleaded guilty in May to a charge of wire fraud that resulted from an investigation that began after First Liberty Building and Loan collapsed in June 2025. Frost, who has publicly apologized for his role, was also ordered to pay more than $76 million in restitution

It promised returns of up to 16% by making high-interest loans to businesses. Frost, an evangelical powerbroker, touted "Wall Street returns for Main Street investors." But he skimmed $17 million for himself, his relatives and their affiliated companies, and loaned millions more that borrowers never repaid, a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission lawsuit said.

One down, hundreds to go.

$76 million over 300 people, that is $250k+ a person. That is probably everything some of these people have. There will be suicides over it.

Should we start calling him trump jr.?

Too bad they didn't see fit to toss Trump in prison for his looting a charity and ripping off hundreds with "Trump University."

trump has already said he is going to pardon himself, so he is expecting it sooner or later.

When a pardon is issued, doesn't it have to include all the crimes allegedly or truly committed by the one being pardoned?

trump can get away with just a general pardon, without specifics. There is a question over whether he can pardon himself, but he definitely cannot pardon himself for state crimes(only federal). trump seems to think he can pardon himself for all crimes.

Trump thinks he's omnipotent. The cult and the supreme court agree.
