in order to prevent the story becoming known and ruining his run for president. That is a campaign contribution. A sizeable one.
They may also be in possession of statements that Trump was aware of the payoff through testimony.
If these things are true, there is no viable privilege argument any more than you can legally hide a murder weapon by handing
it to your lawyer and claiming "privilege"
