What Kind Of Official Business Requires The President's Personal Lawyer???

There is something that has been bugging me about this whole Republican denial thing. I have not heard the pundits discuss this.

The Trump sycophants have been loudly proclaiming that the President has done nothing wrong. They have been saying that he was conducting official business, not working for himself on our dime.

They say his request for Ukraine to investigate Biden and his son was an effort to 'combat corruption.' (absurd because only Biden and son were singled out.)

OK, if we go with that, then why does the President's personal lawyer have ANYTHING to do with it?

Rudy Giuliani doesn't work for the USA. He has no official position, no duties, no oath, no responsibility to the United States of America. We don't pay him. He works for Donald Trump. Trump pays him. He answers only to Trump.

Why is he even involved with this thing?

Why is the President sending his personal lawyer to meet with Ukrainian officials to do official business?

It doesn't pan out.

It's not right.

This was not official business.

President Trump is working for himself, not US.

Trump hired THREE lawyers to conduct State Dept business to fight his impeachment, another case of obstruction of justice

he keeps digging that hole for Schiff and Pelosi

And let's not forget the canoodling with the NRA to get them to pay for those attorneys in exchange for no gun control bill(s).

I can hardly wait to see how the slavish Reichtards answer your question, PoliTalker. I expect it will be along the lines of $arah Palin's continual whining about the pile-up of ethics charges against her and how OF COURSE he needs a personal atty because bad, bad media, mean old Dems, fake news, witch hunters, worse persecution EVER, etc.

That gets his marching orders from State? DOES ANYONE HERE think Guiliani could get a SECURITY CLEARANCE to work at the WH nevertheless do sensitive diplomacy?

But then that didn't stop JARED--he got a MAN CHOPPED UP WITH A BONE SAW!

Because even Trump boot-lickers know (even if they can't admit it publicly) that Trump was not just innocently representing the interests of the United States and sincerely advocating for clean government and elimination of corruption. Even Trump boot-lickers know Trump pursued this, and offered up the assistance of his private attorney, in an attempt to get a foreign government to dig up dirt on his chief 2020 campaign political rival.

For Trump boot-lickers to deny this requires them to plumb the depths of abject dishonesty, and willfully toss their honor and self-respect overboard.

Trump eliminating corruption?

That's a laugh.

They may briefly suspect that what Trump did was illegal, but they will quickly find the propaganda to support what they want to believe which is that Trump could never do any wrong. Thereafter, they will forget all about even the remote possibility that Trump broke the law. They have their story line and they will repeat it often enough to commit it to memory and solidify it as 'fact' in their own perception.

Trump can't control facts but he has great sway over perceptions, and that can be extremely valuable.

It is up to us to counter the BS with straight up undeniable facts.

I don't think that requires any disrespect for people on the right who have made a simple mistake. We are all human. We all make mistakes. The right makes the mistake of believing in slanted perceptions and treating them as facts. Our best chance of getting them to think about why what they have done is a mistake is not to disrespect them, but to respectfully point out the differences between their perceptions and actual fact. You do a pretty good job of that, and I am proud to share the board with ya.

Calmness and pointed facts will prevail over perception and emotion in time just as maturity always prevails over immaturity in the end.

Trump is stuck, he has already released the transcript, and Rudy's activities are documented.

At the least he asked the Ukranians for help against a political rival.
At the least he sent a private attorney to go do the work of the United States Department of State, and that same attorney was demanding dirt on Bide.

Those acts are disgusting and should shock any patriotic American. The truth is they do shock most. Many Republicans are figuring out that they will have to chose between their jobs or turning on Trump, many already have lost that choice.

If they play this wrong, ReTrumplicans have lost power for a decade.

McConnel today has announced that if impeached, there will be a trial and vote.

McConnel today has announced that if impeached, there will be a trial and vote.

I would be careful about that McConnell announcement. It was all over the news on Friday, but upon digging a bit I learned it was actually something he said in the Spring. Check that source.

I saw that some outlets corrected their story about it being a recent comment.

I also saw that USA Today ran a story today with no correction, claiming that McConnell said it today.

McConnell is pretty slithery. He seems to have a penchant for staying with power. If the power of support leaves Trump, McConnell will too. But he would have to perceive that the 20 Republican votes to convict are there before he would join. I have a hard time seeing him lead that push.

I wonder if Giuliani can still claim Attorney-Client Privilege in order to avoid congressional testimony if subpoenaed to do so??????

Hello Trumpet,

I wonder if Giuliani can still claim Attorney-Client Privilege in order to avoid congressional testimony if subpoenaed to do so??????

Great question.

It should be noted that privilege is not universal. It can be overridden in some cases. This might be one of them.

Looks like the President's personal lawyer is going to need a personal lawyer.

It is a crime to have a personal lawyer conduct official business.
no it's not. where do you get this?
Guiliai was dispatched because he has been investigating this mess since 2016- he has document received from Ukraine the FBI would not receive, and he has other crap ( he rambnles somuch I don'tlsten to him, but that'sit)

Actually even the notoriously obnoxious and sycophantic Laura Ingraham asked Ghoul-iani about that very issue.
