Well that's a good point. I don't think Trump and his advisors are complete idiots. I just don't get the sense of impending incompetence from Trump that I had when W won the white house. We all know what a catastrophe that turned out to be and it cost the GOP 8 years in the weeds. He's already a shit-stain on American history. How the fuck do we explain Donald Trump?
His supporters have no idea how precarious a position they are in .. even with, and especially with control of the White House and Congress. Where are the excuses going to come from?
Can't blame Obama, he left a solid economy. Can't blame democrats, they're not in power.
They .. not just Trump .. but also his supporters who put him there .. are on the international stage .. with a clown at the helm.
A pussy-grabbing clown and his First 'Lady' who everybody on the planet will have seen her pussy.

truly amazing
Winning control of the government when you have been focused on opposition and not governing for 8 years is going to be problematic because now you have to govern and not only do that but do it well. The consequences of not doing that will be to lose the next election cycle. Though it wouldn't surprise me to see a repeat of 2004 where Trump's first four years are a complete and total train wreck and the Dems are poised for a political comeback only to nominate Harry Reid or Nancy Pelosi to run against Trump in 2020.
So yea...that's a problem for Republicans now. They have to govern now. The Dems have a different problem. What direction will they go and who will lead them? I seriously doubt that a fire breathing reformer like Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren will be able to do it, though they would have a significant voice. Certainly not some milque toast moderate during a climate of change and choosing a leader based on primogeniture, like they did with Hillary would be suicidal.
I don't see anyone in the wings who would be able to rebuild the Obama coalition for one simple reason. They're not Obama and will not have the talents of that unique and remarkable man. For Democrats that should be a serious concern. I don't see any leaders within the establishment of the party waiting in the wings and they'll need someone that doesn't have a lot of baggage.
For the time being the Dems probably shouldn't even worry about that. They should worry about what kind of party they are going to be. IF they decide that they are going to be the party of urban elite professionals aligned with diversity and do not make the strategic attempt to expand their foot print into rural and small town America then I'll drop my Democratic party affiliation and either go independent or maybe even the GOP if they decide to grow up.
