Maybe you didn't see the camera pan over the entire gathering but more people didn't clap than did during his speech.

Did they clap for her? I didn't notice the part about Ellison and Schultz not standing but why is that a problem? I did see how trump turned her grief into self-congratulatory theatrics. It was bad enough that she had the camera trained on her for so long while she was crying but trump didn't have the grace and class to end it after a reasonable time, he pushed it into a second round of applause. I was embarrassed for her. It was another instance of trump being tone-deaf to someone's feelings.

Good grief, that's not his true nature! He spent the entire day blaming the generals for the Yemen disaster. Not taking responsibility, that's his true nature.

Obviously his speech was written with the attempt to make him look better than he really is. He may have delivered it in a more measured tone but it was the same pack of lies he's been peddling for two years.

Maybe they were angry that trump used this death for political capital, especially after he spent the entire day trashing the generals for the Yemen disaster.

Maybe they were standing up for Ryan's absent parents who lost the same loved one. Their grief and anger matters also.
