there is an extended family and there is a nuclear family. an extended family consists of everyone not just in the nuclear family that chooses to live together or in this case beyond a nuclear family who have immigration preference.

I did hear one cojent argument about "chain migration" or immigration. It was along the lines that it allows
a person who got in to unfairly dictate or direct the new immigrants, disadvantaging those who are equally
otherwise eligible but solely lack the relative already here.

That was on NPR radio perhaps a week ago. I can't source the argument better than I did. Framed as the immigrant
essentially selecting the next "batch" I found that a sound counter argument. Not overwhelming the counter arguments,
but at least based in reason rather than racism.

Nobody has a problem with a nuclear family,but when you start getting aunts and uncles and nephews and nieces
then it becomes a free for all. And that would be an obvious place to cut chain migrations.

You may very well be correct the Dems will sacrifice the DACA for the keeping of chain migration.

No it's not complicated in the slightest, we need to end quota based immigration and switch to merit based immigration policy just like every other modern industrialized country on the planet.

what kind of hubris is this?
Immigration cases and visas and citizenship are "solved"by Congress - not me.

But the broad outlines of chain immigration/ the wall / DACA /and lottery vias are the issues on the table.
They can be solved if Congress was interested in solving any or all of them. Chances are they wont be.
