To your question, I do not see culture as a problem within black communities. I see a definite lack of faith and belief in the American system as a major problem. Black youth won't fight to join a system they see as racist, they'll simply create a society of their own, as they have done .. often done successfully.

Your question about 'acting white' is seriously dated. I work with at-risk youth and I haven't heard of a single student accused of acting white, except in two cases where 'acting white' meant being a racist. That is the definition they understand today.

Why do you think black youth would have the same understanding of this society that you may have? What they know clearly is that a racist cop can gun them down at anytime without ever facing the consequences of that action.

None taken. I have a unique perspective as I grew up in a minority majority neighborhoods, and I still work with those communities in youth clubs and other organizations not because I want to "help those black people" as I see no difference between people, other than I want to help the communities I grew up in. While you are right the outwardly "acting white" is rarely said, the culture of it persists in how some see as you say "join a system they see as racist, they'll simply create a society of their own", That's true in any subculture, however is that now the system failing them or failing themselves?

Truth is, many aren't failing within that system / culture. Hip Hop and Rap are the most listened to music all over the world today .. and they created it. It not only created lots of black millionaires, it's creating black billionaires.

I'm sure you can relate to some of the challenges of trying to bring youth into a system that I don't even trust.

Trust me...I would love nothing more...but she keeps coming up with this weird crazy crap that effects other posters here...and that's not fair to them...Hopefully this last psychotic episode of hers will be resolved soon and I promise, not another word.

The reason for that is simple. This is not a new person; it's a sock of someone you have on ignore -- Toxic TOP. She often uses the "acting white" phrase and other similar tells. In fact, she's made this same argument in the past -- "I work in that community, I know stuff, their culture is the problem, etc."
