I haven't seen any mass murders by NRA members yet. And, yes sadly airline flights will continue to be forced to have peoples' lives protected.
Not all those rude disrespectful people who showed up at that CNN propaganda event were the Parkland survivors and their families. That thing had nothing to with the kids of Parkland. CNN made sure to let the mob go wild. There was no calm controlled thoughtful conversation or even exchange of ideas going on there.
No rational speaker there was allowed to explain to the crowd that their angst was misdirected at the NRA who had nothing whatever to do with the massacre at Parkland. It was a complete FUBAR by all levels of law enforcement and one lone non-NRA madman.

I know that calm and thoughtful are important to those who wish to preserve the status quo. Definitely the Tories back in the 1770s preferred "calm" and didn't like the "rude disrespectful" rebels.

Why do a lot (not all) liberal guests I listen to on various talk shows (FOX, CNN, MSNBC) all say, "We need to have a national discussion about this"?
The "this" could mean any topic like gun laws, transgenderism, crime, poverty in the inner cities, climate change, etc. I'm forever hearing we need a "national discussion". Only the far left and right fringes opt for the mob scenes, name-calling and destruction of property.
Using hyperbole like the word "hate" is an exaggeration that shuts down rational discussion.
I'm curious -- why are you emotionally invested in protecting the NRA's tarnished image?
I have no emotional attachment to them. It's just a shame to see a group that's never recommended violence be directed at innocent people be so attacked.

The reason you hear this more on liberal media outlets is because discussion and finding points in common are how we libs prefer to operate. For instance, you probably notice that in this discussion I have not called you names or mocked you or otherwise tried to shut you down. I respond in a civil way to your posts. You do too for the most part. The fact that you may not like what I say doesn't make them any less civil. Ditto for you in return. Real life has shown me that many conservative ppl prefer to do the same thing -- discuss issues and find common ground.
Rather than going at each other, we should be asking ourselves what's in it for "them" to keep us from finding that common ground, keeping us from having rational discussions that lead to compromise and positive changes that benefit everyone? How do politicians, the popular media, and our foreign adversaries profit when we're at each other's throats and destroying our country from the inside?
You don't have to "recommend violence" outright to be guilty of fomenting it by implanting fear into ppl, pushing the purchase of people-killing machines, and buying elected officials to vote your way.
I don't know how you stand on the abortion issue, but here's a corollary. Planned Parenthood provides sexual education and counseling, birth control, diagnosis and treatment of sexually-transmitted diseases, cancer screening, education and medical assistance for sexual health for both men and women, and in a few centers they provide abortions. In other words, they are an advocacy group much like the NRA.... The only difference is the NRA does not actively shoot ppl; PP does provide abortions (3% of what they do). PP doesn't have a powerful lobby and doesn't buy elected officials; NRA does.
