"States with the most (and least) gun violence"

It ain't rocket science, less guns means less gun deaths, as we see here, the overwhelming number of those blue States with the strictest gun laws also share the lowest gun violence rates, it's all about access to guns

And nobody confiscated any guns in any of those States and they all have law biding gun owners as residents

"Not rocket science?" Your article says this isn't evidence of cause and effect. It also said suicides are higher in rural areas. Do you have studies which show people who want to commit suicide don't do it if they don't have access to guns?

The only way to make that determination would be to ask the person that committed suicide.

Ah, Chicago isn't a State, and with Indiana only twenty minutes away by ca,r Illinois and Chicago ain't ever going to lead the list, but the top of the list definitely proves the gun argument bogus

There's that blame something else for the failure of strict gun laws.

Amazing how when conservatives see something they don't like they request further studies and documentation, but at the same time they'll regurgitate something they heard a demogogue say on the radio

If I'm not mistaken you are one of the same posters who regurgitates the NRA talking point that crime in America has gone done in the last few decades because gun ownership has increased, and now your asking for exact causation?

Common sense, let's see, if your neighborhood puts up a Stop sign on a particular corner and the number of auto accidents decreases do you think it might have something to do with the Stop sign? If it walks like a duck, looks like a duck, and sounds like a duck, it sure as hell ain't an elephant

If the states have strict gun laws, then what you're implying is that they have sacrificed liberty.

Baloney, getting tired of conservatives regurgitating all those 18th Century abstracts, tell us, what the hell is liberty? And telling us "freedom" or pasting Webster isn't an answer

18th Century abstracts like the US Constitution and the Federalist Papers?

But it has the most strict gun laws in the nation. According to your logic, it should not be the murder capital of the nation.

Actually they matter a great deal, especially when courts are interpreting Constitutional issues.

From your link:

As our study could not determine cause-and-effect relationships, further studies are necessary to define the nature of this association," they wrote.

Fake statistics, gun deaths =/= gun homicides and gun homicide rates are highest in cities with strict gun control. Fail thread.

Relationship between gun ownership and gun murder rate

According to the comparison between gun ownership and gun murder rate per state, there is no direct relationship. Here is why:

Comparison between the top 10 states with the highest gun ownership and the top 10 states with the highest gun deaths indicates Mississippi being the only state that might have a direct relationship. The remaining 9 states didn’t have any indication of co-relationship.
Comparison between the top 10 states with the lowest gun ownership and the top 10 states with the lowest gun deaths shows Hawaii being the only state that might have a direct relationship. The remaining 9 states didn’t have any indication of co-relationship.
However, some crime experts believed that the weaker the gun laws and the higher the rate of gun ownership in a given state, the more deaths from gun violence that the state will have.

“no direct relationship...”

Until a study doesn’t include that roughly 2/3 of the “gun deaths” they count are suicides I will count it as bogus and slanted.

Figures don't lie but they can and do misrepresent reality......of course, where there are more guns you will have more accidents, gun related suicides, etc.....

How about crime gun related deaths....thats the relevant subject....Washington DC, has the most restrictive gun laws in the country and their rate is 31 per 100,000
while Alaska, one of the lesser restrictive states comes in at 20.....kinda blows a hole in your conclusion....

But even the words most restrictive and least restrictive don't tell the whole story....there are actually only minor differences in restrictions in the states.....
sometimes its only the number of bullets in a magazine, a minor issue ....I believe all states allow CC of guns to some degree or another....maybe its a restriction on Tactical-looking rifles,
others may have restrict all black rifles and magazine capacity, other states may have no restrictions on them all them.....

That's what conservatives do? Wow, I don't have a car but I telepathically know what's being said on the radio? I guess I'm amazing that way.

2/3rds of gun deaths are suicides. So yeah, if you care about gun deaths as you claim my question is very relevent. But being flat out anti gun as you are any actual details takes away from your goal
