Ted Nugent proves a shotgun is deadlier than an AR-15

Agreed. Absurd indeed. I’ll add another criteria to your test. Place the target 300 meters downfield and see who hits the target most.

I could be in error; but I don't think most of these shootings have been at 300 meters.
Which is around 1 city block, where I live.

Caution, GRAPHIC! Viewer discretion advised.

This is what a Ruger 10/22 can do.

Since a .22 has been know to "ricochet" when hitting a bone, there have been instances of someone getting shot in the leg and having the exit wound out their abdomen.

Touché !!
Rarely do we find a back-slam so precisely on target. Well done!

The primary quantifiable parameter is foot pounds delivered to target. I usually get that stuff from The Shooter's Bible, which also lists trajectory tables. I've loaned mine to a friend, so can't reference it at the moment.

But additional factors include:
- total projectile mass
- pellet size
- pellet density (lead or steel)
- choke, or dispersion pattern
- powder charge
- barrel bore
- barrel length
- trajectory

among numerous other factors.

I've fired the 18 ga & 12 ga. I've never fired a .410 but wouldn't hunt anything larger than a frog with it.

Why - a .410 is good for hunting rabbits; if you know what you're doing.

And are you aware that you can get 00 buckshot, for a .410?

It only holds around 6 00 pellets; but will still do some damage.

Guess ya got us there. Combined or individually, our IQ's are much, much, much higher than that.

But you and your entire redneck family can boast that you in fact, DO have the combined IQ of A fucking monkey.

Congratulations.

Peckerwood idiot.

Your combined IQs aren't up to the level of A below average black. Average for blacks is 85.

I understand that. My point is that they are two different tools with different uses.

There are roughly 18 #00 buckshot projectiles in a 3 1/2 Magnum 12 gauge shotgun shell. There is 1 projectile in a .223 round.
Now, one can fire 3 rounds just as fast from both a shotgun and an AR15. Both are extremely lethal at 20 feet.
The shotgun will send 54 projectiles down range in the same time the AR sends 3. Think about it.

Nugent should've been shooting gallon milk jugs full of red colored water to really make the point. The paper target doesn't really demonstrate what 00 buckshot can do.

Maybe he should have used real children to drive home the point?

My point is that if the school shooters had used shot guns with 00 buckshot, the death toll would have been much higher.

I've got a 20 gauge with a full choke and at around 20 feet, it will put a load of bird shot through 3/4 inch plywood and leave a really ugly hole.
This means that if was used on a group of people, anyone behind the initial victim would also be dead.

He should have used one that had an open choke, to show the damage that a spread can inflict.

So's a .22LR
but the .22LR ammo costs me a nickel a piece. That's 20 rnd for $1.oo

And any scatter shot introduces probability.
With a single projectile the statistical massage collapses.
"if you know what you're doing." U9
I do, which is why I prefer bullets to buck-shot.
"And are you aware that you can get 00 buckshot, for a .410?" U9
I'd never given it any thought. But I can't imagine a reason it would be otherwise.
Those that don't like the pellet size the store offers can modify to their preference. god bless America.

I'm on a low lead diet.
I know what it's like to find shot in my dinner. Don't care for it. And the detrimental health affects are cumulative. Neuro-toxic heavy metals are bio-accumulators. And I'm already in the danger zone from other sources.

Because they're bio-accumulators, it's not merely minimizing the risk one time.
It's a matter of eliminating the risk every time.

And I do that by shooting small game in the head, which I then do not eat.
The only time I ever missed the head was at dusk. The grey squirrel was on an uneven field stone wall hopping away from me.

In the dim light I failed to provide adequate lead, and so instead of a head-shot, it was gut-shot.

Generally the only things I shoot but don't eat are cardboard targets.

But that squirrel was messy. So I left it as a snack for the other forest inhabitants.

Ted Nugent proves a shotgun is deadlier than an AR-15

So when is the U.S. Army and Marine Corps going to make shot guns the weapon of choice for infantry units?

Oh, that's right. Never.

Because, unlike you and Ted Nugent, they understand weapons, ballistics, rate of fire, et. al.

I like shotguns for taking out zombies, or in some close-quarter trench warfare situations. At least that what Call of Duty has taught me!

If you want to lay down a hailstorm of lead, and put a lot of lethal damage on an enemy you are going to need semi-automatic and automatic assault rifles.
Although my personal favorite is the Soviet PPSh-41 submachine gun. The rate and amount of lead that thing puts out defies reason! It is my weapon of choice in WW2 Call of Duty franchise games!
