Los Angeles painting city streets white in bid to combat climate change

Is this California hating /envy thread still going?
It's getting too crowded here, please stay away.
San Diego used to have a cool vibe, now its a big city.
I hope the high costs skyrocket even more or else I'm going
to have to move to an even more exclusive place.

You know after I told you. See post #174.

Since people are bitching about white streets causing glare and accidents, then clearly no you didn't know they were light gray. They are also painting them to mitigate the effects of the 150° pavement on pedestrians but I am sure you knew that too. They are also doing it to mitigate the need to irrigate as it drops temperatures in the area beyond just the road surface, but I am sure you knew that too. They are also doing it so adjoining property owners will not have to consume as much electricity cooling their homes, but I am sure you knew that too.
Holy fuck are you serious? I started the thread, do you really think that I didn't read the article?

I grew up really close to Mount Vernon. The parkway connecting it to Alexandria is concrete, and it's a beautiful stretch.
Nobody complains about concrete. This stuff isn't stark white or alabaster. Havana Poon is just stirring the pot between
stirring his cheap brown liquor drinks in the windowless dive who along with other street trash whiles away his worthless hour.
He is the lonely man in a clean well lighted place.

You are obviously totally unaware of the law of unintended consequences.

Ha. I used date someone who grew up in the neighborhood right beside Mt. Vernon. She had moved by the time we dated but we did a drive-by of her old crib once

I don't like concrete highways myself. I think it is a bit of a rougher ride and you get more road noise off those roads. I am not opposed to them necessarily. I understand they have fewer potholes in cold weather and are not as vulnerable to road salts and such. I am not sure the Kool Seal thing would work very well in areas that get regular rain. Could be slick to hit a long patch of it I would think.

Havana Poon is a degenerate cynic. He is entirely incapable of appreciating anything dynamic, new, interesting or well intentioned.

He just shits all over it. It's hilarious he thought he was going to lampoon this and is totally backfired.
Despite the fact that it was some obscure thing even liberals are not aware is taking place, and he knowingly
wanted to tar everyone who he hates as if they underwrote the project, the general perception seems to be it may be a damn good idea.
"as long as you are going to repaid a street, why not do it smart and not dumb?"

LMAO

More fail from the aged, demented alien deplorable.

And you don't think a painted/sealed road will become "Slippery When Wet"?

MacSquawker is slippery wet or dry, that's his default setting. He is a truly odious cretin, without any saving graces.

There are "Slippery When Wet" signs on smooth asphalt roads and "Bridge Freezes Before Road Surface" on concrete bridges for a reason...because it's true!
Adding a sealant/paint to any road surface would drastically decrease traction when it becomes wet. That is an inarguable fact.

Yes I absolutely agree, totally pointless exercise. I can see why Californians fall for it though, it fits right in with New Age bollocks like crystals and pyramids.

You have failed to convince me or anyone else..
Given up trying to convince you, you've proved to be impervious to reason. Why don't you take a sample to your mates in Saudi, maybe they can paint the sand dunes with it?

Depends on the sealant..............

No, not really. Any sealant will fill in the porous asphalt making it smoother and harder to get traction.
Also, do you think visibility would decrease in heavy rains with oncoming vehicle headlights like it does with asphalt?

Just Googled around and apparently most roads in LA are concrete. So it truly does beggar belief that they would paint an already grey surface with greyish white paint/sealer. Somebody must have got some serious baksheesh for sanctioning this lunacy.

Non Slip Concrete Sealers for Slip Resistant Concrete

https://www.foundationarmor.com › Concrete Sealers › Sealer Types

Penetrating Sealers. Foundation Armor's line of penetrating concrete sealers are designed to penetrate through the concrete surface where they chemically react within the pores. They are naturally non-slip, as they will not change the surface characteristics of the concrete. LEARN MORE ...

The whole point of the exercise supposedly is to increase the albedo of the road surface, not to seal the surface just for the sake of it!! Give it up Marge, stick to defending Saudis.
