Los Angeles painting city streets white in bid to combat climate change

That link provides the empirical data you request. Thanks for proving my point about reduced need for electricity.

Empirical data? The link specifically says the point you made wasn't examined. The other study showed the white roofs could increase greenhouse gas emissions in winter.

Jacobson's study did not examine one potential benefit of white roofs – a reduced demand for electricity to run air conditioning in hot weather. But a recent study done at the National Center for Atmospheric Research showed that the decrease in air conditioning use, which occurs mostly in the summer, might be more than offset by increases in heating during winter months.

I still don't see anyone who supports this "coating" of roadways addressing the traction (when wet) and visibility (during rain) issues.

Hmmm...two geniuses that missed the point?

If you get a five year old to read the study to you, you'll note the reference to the reasons they see for the majority of climate change issues. So...baby steps here....if you increase the need for electricity, you increase the demand for that which causes climate change.

That's not me. That's just a bunch of Liberals at Stanford.

You should take your own advice, oh and look up the definition of hubris.

Being confident is easy when you know you are right. You should stop posting articles that don't make your point, if you tire of feeling inferior.

For a person with so many degrees, how could you miss the point that the article made about the reasons for climate change?

Especially since you argue against those very points?

I seriously do not know what the hell you are on about half the time, but I can't be bothered to find out.

Evidently, you can't be bothered to read your own links either. That's why you rarely know what people are discussing in these threads.

You most definitely missed the point. But a genius, you are not.

If you get a five year old to read the study to you, you'll note the reference to the reasons they see for the majority of climate change issues. So...baby steps here....if you increase the need for electricity, you increase the demand for that which causes climate change.

Sad, but not surprising that you can't wrap your tiny mind around two concepts at once. Yes, the white roofs can decrease the need for electricity during the summer. However, the white roofs will keep on reflecting the sunlight during the winter, requiring more energy use in the winter. More than offsetting the decreased demand during summer. The study also said overall the white roofs made global warming worse by decreasing cloud cover.

That's not me. That's just a bunch of Liberals at Stanford.

I'll try one more time to help you understand, but I doubt it will sink in. One of the first things the article said, in very large print:
white roofs don't help to solve the problem, say Stanford*researchers.
