Interesting tweet. We basically talk just national issues on this board but local politics has just as much influence over our lives on a daily basis. Is there anything more important to people from a local perspective than maintaing the current structure of their neighborhood?

@dillonliam @JaneKim Over the years I don't know of an issue more important to voters than preserving single family zones. Not taxes, economy, crime, homeless, corruption, nothing. Last year LA downzoned sf zones from 3.0 to .45 FAR. Hearing had biggest crowd I've ever seen. Overflow into Spring St.

Clarify what that means, please.

it stands for Floor Area Ratio. FAR = Gross Floor Area/Size (Plot) of the Land

So basically it determines how big each floor of your home or building can be based on the size of your lot. A lower FAR means you can build less on your property.

Floor area ratio. I don't recall exact formula, but it is looking at a buildings permitted floor space relative to the size of the lot it is on. Single family homes will typically have a low ratio, whereas apartments and condo complexes will be higher.

Is that each floor or total footprint?

So what happens when the zoning runs into conflict with Covenants and restrictions? My neighborhood has a minimum square footage requirement as a deed restriction that runs with the land.
